South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Rescheduled Regular Meeting -November 2, 2007 <br />6. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Public Hearing <br />(1) continued... <br />provided here is streets, water and sewer <br />lines, communication, and a parking <br />structure. I will note that the parking <br />structure will have property taxes paid on it <br />because of the use of the parking structure as <br />this development moves forward. To me that <br />is also a very positive component of the <br />proposal before us. Finally, the ratio of <br />private to public, 5 to 1, fits within a very <br />reasonable and justifiable range for public <br />investment to spur that private investment. I <br />ask your approval of the documents before <br />you so that we can continue moving forward. <br />This has been a very complicated project, but <br />great partnerships with all of you involved. <br />We look forward to being able to complete <br />the details so we can get the shovels in the <br />ground and start bringing this out of the <br />ground. Thank you. <br />MARGUERITE TAYLOR, an original board <br />member of the NNRO, and I have been a 30 <br />year member of the Northeast Neighborhood <br />Council. One of the things that the Council <br />has done through this entire project is watch <br />to make sure our neighborhood is not <br />gentrified, and that has not happened. It is <br />important to us that people who live in the <br />neighborhood can continue to afford to live <br />in our neighborhood. We talk about the <br />Robinson Center that was an investment by <br />the University and Mr. Afflack Graves is so <br />right that the University has become a <br />partner.
