?4°i.5 `Bids were opened for the purchase of One Hundred and fifty (150) Barrels of cement and Twenty Thousand feet t20000) feet of Oak Lumber the same was referred to the Clerk for tabulation, to be reported on Friday April the �6th. 1912 at 10.00 A.M. - ✓Petition received and read before the Board, from the South Bend Dowel Works, petitioning for the privilege of installing a side-track starting free the Vandalia siding on South Lafayette Street, which is used by the Indiana Anchor Fence Company and running west a- cross'Lafayette Street next to the Vand.alia round house into the South Bend Dowel Works yard. The same to be used for the purpose of transferring cars by hand.` Approved by the Board temporially. ✓Light ordered placed an Coquil'lard Street between Campau and Sortn Street. ✓Pettti_ax re ne ved and read petitioning °for Coal Tar Macadam on Garfield Court from Wash- ington Avenue to South end of Court. Referred to City Engineer 'for investigation. Petition received and read, petitioning for a pipe sewer on Garfield Court from Wash- ington Avenue to South end of Court. Referred to City Engineer for investigation. COPY OF IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION N0, 151 RESOLVED. BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,INDI ANA: - That bids be received for the construction and repairing of cement walks and curbs on different streets, in the City where the sane already is partly cons'tio cted or defective. All work to be constructed or repaired in accordance with Standard speci- ficatiox on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City. All work to be done and assessments made as provided in Section 1 of Act entitled, "An Act Concerning Municipal Corporati6ns,approved 1909. " Said Improvement shall -be known and de si gnat ed as GENERAL SIDEWALK AND REPAIR WORK ON VARIOUS STREETSt and shall be constructed according to the plans and speci- fications prepared by the Civil Engineer herewith. -- Notice of this resolution shall be published on the . 25th. day of April 1912 and ®n the 2nd. day of May 1912 in the South Bend Daily Times.- This Board will give a hearing on this resolution at its office in the City Hall on the 21st: d€)r of May 1912 at 10:00 A Bond or Bonds to be i ssue d to the Contractor in payment _ fer such work where the property owner signs waiver required,, as according.to lave. ORDER SELECTING THE KIND OF PAVEIAE14T. Concerning the improvement of Madision Street from East Race t.o Eddy Street in pursuance bf Improvement Resolution 'No.. 131,1912 the preliminary order for said improv ment heretofore adopted is hereby confirmed. The Board now orders that so much a said Street be improved with Vitrified Brick,laid on a gravel foundation and awards the con- tract to C.P.DeFREES, he being the lowest and best bidder upon Marion Block.
