identify strengths, gaps, and priorities.
2 Regular executive stakeholder engagement: NNSC will be available to participate remotely in
South Bend's regular Core Group meetings with GVI leadership to the degree that it is useful to the
ongoing implementation. In these engagements, NNSC will be prepared to review the
aforementioned rubric, discuss progress in implementation, and build consensus around identified
short, medium and long term goals. NNSC also expects to offer the SBGVI Core Group support in
specifically formalizing this governance capacity and situating it long-term in the City.
3. Regular strategic advising calls: NNSC staff with deep experience in violence reduction workwill
conduct dedicated regular calls with the South Bend GVI project manager to guide the ongoing
implementation of GVI and prepare for call -ins; plan and support additional investments in the
comprehensive strategy; and provide expert guidance on challenges as they arise. The NNSC will
work with the project manager to identify opportunities to build buy -in and/or engage in
collaborative problem solving by bringing additional stakeholders into the calls. NNSC anticipates
that these calls with occur on a weekly basis for the first six months after the new project manager
is hired, and that frequency will be reduced to biweekly as implementation proceeds.
4. Periodic site visits: NNSC staff will conduct at least one site visit per year for the purpose of
providing in -person strategic advising around specific elements of the intervention, e.g. developing
community -based versions of the shooting review, incorporating innovations to the call -in structure,
etc. NNSC will also use this site visit as an opportunity to meet in person with key stakeholders to
address specific questions, areas of concerns, and emerging innovations and to conduct fidelity
checks on critical processes e.g. shooting incident reviews. As is practicable, NNSC will conduct
and cover costs for additional site visits to South Bend as needed. The NNSC will also make
experienced staff available to provide off -site support for call -ins and call -in rehearsals and assist
the South Bend GVI partnership in refining speaker talking points, slide presentations, and overall
event logistics as needed.
5. Technological support: The NNSC will continue to elevate the use of SharefileTm and BoxTM
storage and file sharing platform —and, potentially, other secure project management platforms —
to improve real- time partnership on documents and tracking information.
6. Other special support as needed: The NNSC will make experienced staff available, when
appropriate or when specially requested, to support the South Bend GVI partnership on discrete
meetings or tasks, e.g., the various subcommittee meetings. Any related travel costs will be
supported by South Bend GVI.
Access to management and development tools
NNSC recognizes that jurisdictions implementing GVI benefit from ongoing development opportunities for
key stakeholders as well as tools to help project managers support rigorous implementation. NNSC feels
strongly that while firsthand exposure, either from NNSC or from subject area experts in partner
jurisdictions, is important when adopting new approaches or emerging innovations, it is equally important
that jurisdictions are equipped with tools to manage their own ongoing successes and challenges with
regard to the core strategy.
