2 622 <br />City Cmetery Sexton filed f inane ial statement for the month <br />ending" July 31st . ,1918. Same° read and placed on file. <br />The Board ordered notice given City Engineer .on Auly 16th. ,1918 <br />for the preparing of a resolution for the opening of High Street from Dubail Ave to <br />Dayton Street, rescinded and said report placed on file. <br />Building Commissioner Teeple filed financial report of the Building <br />Departmenf for the mnth of July 1918. <br />The following communication with petitions received read and <br />placed in file. <br />August 2,1918. <br />To the Han. Beard of Public Works, <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />Gentlemen: - <br />Petitions are started for the improvements on South Michigan Street <br />from Donmoyer Ave. to City Limits. one for street lights and the other for curb and <br />sidewalk. <br />We have been astonished to find 47 children of school age, 9 in the first <br />half mile; and 38 in the second half mile. <br />So marry large families have moved in recently and so malry start for their <br />first year. <br />Moreover, nearly half the frontage has been signed up in the second half <br />mile with many to see yet. <br />We expect to have both petitions in early next week. <br />Very truly yours, <br />Harvey S. Bonds appeared before the Board and the following written release <br />was approved by the Board. <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />May 9th.01918. <br />WHEREAS, the South Bend home Telephone Company, as principal, and the <br />American Surety Company of New York, as surety, did on the 28th.9 day of April 1910 <br />file with the City Bf South Bend, Indiana its certain Contractors Bond known and <br />number :�d as 779331 of the American Surety Company of New York; and <br />WHEREAS, said South Bend Home Telephdne Company has been purchased by the <br />Central Union Telephone Company and he South Bend Home Telephone Company has sur- <br />renderedits franc hise: - <br />NOWO THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED by the Board of Public Works of the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana that said South Bend Home Telephone Company and American <br />Surety Company of New York be released from any further liability on said bond and the <br />said American Surety Company of New York is hereby released and discharged from fur- <br />ther 1 iab it ity by reason of its said suretyship. <br />Dated this 6th.0 day of August 1918. <br />GILBERT A.
