228 <br />11 <br />The following.commuxication was reaeeived read and placed on <br />filed. <br />COMMUNICATION AND PROPOSITION. <br />TO THE CITY OF 86VTH BEND <br />Through its Board of Public Works; . <br />The Beyer Floral Company will sell to the City of South Bend for <br />dumping ground subject to the providions hereinafter made the following described <br />tract. <br />Beginning at a point in the south line of Mishawaka Avenue forty <br />(40) feet east of the east 1 ins - of Eddy Street, thence south to a point approx- <br />imately'.one hundred (100) foot distant from the St..Joseph River, and.which said <br />poio,t . is the top of the , old river bank, . thence southeasterly with the topof said <br />river°bank, as indicated by the rodlineon the blue print submitted herewith. <br />marked meander line, is the east line of the tract of the Beyer Floral Company, <br />thence south to the St, Joseph River, thence down -stream with the St. Joseph River <br />to the Sample Street Brid§e or -the street leading from theesst end thereoF, thence <br />northeasterly•with the southerly line of said street to, the intersection Formed by <br />said southerly line of said street to theintersection formed by said southerly <br />line of said street with the east line of Eddy Street extended, thence north on <br />the east Line of Eddy Street to the intersect ion formed by the east line of said <br />Eddy Street and the southerly line of Mishawaka Avenue, thence southeasterly <br />on the southerly line of Mishawaka Avenue to the place of beginning, comprising <br />bout fourteen (14) Beres sf land. <br />Said proposition is . mado upon the express c and it ion that wkhen <br />the City of South Bend wishes to use a strip of land one hundred (100), feet wI& <br />"along the St. Joseph River for boulevard purposes so much ground will be set aside <br />for a boulevard , also said prdp®sition is made on the further provision that when <br />.this said land shall be filled to a level not exceeding the heights of Mishawaka <br />Avenue, said property shall be graded and used by the City of South Bend for park <br />,)urposes. <br />The price at which the Beyer Floral Company will sell said land <br />is twenty -taro thousand five hundred ($22, 500. 00) dollars of which sale price the <br />Beyer Floral ' Company will donate to the City of South Bend the sum of seventy - <br />five hundred ($7500.00) Dellars, providing the said City will pay to the Beyer <br />Floral.Company.fifteen thousand ($15,000.00) Dollars and specify its acceptance <br />of said proposition for a dumping ground and ultimately to be used for park pur- <br />poses. In other words, the donation of seventy -five hundred 47,500.00) dollars <br />made by the Beyer Floral Company is for the purpose of smotablishin& a city park on <br />said tract. The Beyer Floral Company does not suggest-tiepagAngr of paying the <br />purchase price at this time as it is believed that suitable terms can be arran$ed <br />between the parties hereto. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />BEYER FLORAL CO. <br />The following communication received. <br />South Bender Indiana- July 1391918. <br />Ron. Board of Public Works, <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />Gentlemen: - <br />Owing to the present sliffUnitelabor conditions, I have been unable <br />to complete the contract between the Cit.0 and myself for cement walk and curb <br />on the north side of Lincoln Way West from Olive Street to Fremont Street. <br />I trust you will realise m;t present position and will grant me an <br />extension of fifteen days to complete this work. <br />Yours truly, <br />ALEX BUKOWSKI <br />Extension of time as requested, granted by the Board of Public <br />Works,. <br />
