However, Mr. Downes believes it would
be preferable if there were a retail operation
there and the police could locate someplace
else. He asked how the Police Department
would feel if a viable tenant comes along,
and the police sub-station was asked to
relocate?
Mr. Horvath relayed that the retail space is
centrally located for the Police Department
and ideal for deployment of foot patrols as
well as bike officers. It will cut down on
response times. It's also a very good use of
city-owned property at a very good rate to
the Police Department. The police are aware
it could be asked to relocate.
Mr. Davis relayed his excitement to have the
police in the downtown, for both the
perception and reality of safety.
Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by COMMISSION APPROVED USE AND OCCUPANCY
Mr. Davis and unanimously carried, the LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH THE POLICE
Commission approved Use and Occupancy DEPARTMENT FOR USE OF 119 S.MICHIGAN
STREET AS A POLICE SUB-STATION
License Agreement with the Police
Department for use of 119 S.
