~i_ <br />REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 28, 2008 <br />APPROVAL OF STREET CLOSURES/PROCESSIONS <br />The following street closures and processions were presented for approval: <br />Sponsor Description Date/Time Location Motion <br />Carried <br />National Task Procession - 4t July 13, 2008 - On Route as Submitted - Inks/Littrell <br />Force Annual Ride 8:00 a.m. to Letter to Organizer of <br /> for Kids 1:30 p.m. Potential Road <br /> Construction Problems <br />American Procession - October 11, Begin at the College Inks/Littrell <br />Cancer Society Making Strides 2008 - 8:00 Football Hall of Fame <br /> Against Breast a.m. to 12:30 North on Michigan <br /> Cancer p.m. Street, East on <br /> Northshore Boulevard to <br /> the East Race, East Race <br /> to West on Jefferson <br /> Boulevard, North on <br /> Michigan Street to the <br /> College Football Hall of <br /> Fame <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION -PETITION TO VACATE THE WEST HALF OF THE <br />FIRST EAST/WEST ALLEY NORTH OF PORTAGE BETWEEN LELAND AVENUE AND <br />FOREST AVENUE <br />Mr. Gilot indicated that the Near Northwest Neighborhood, Post Office Box 1132, South Bend, <br />Indiana, 46624, has submitted a request to vacate the above referred to alley. Mr. Gilot advised <br />the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the <br />Police Department, Fire Department, Department of Community & Economic Development and <br />the Department of Public Works. Area Plan stated the vacation would not hinder the growth or <br />orderly development of the unit or neighborhood in which it is located or to which it is <br />contiguous. The vacation would not make access to the lands of the aggrieved person by means <br />of public way difficult or inconvenient. The vacation would not hinder the public's access to a <br />church, school or other public building or place. The vacation would not hinder the use of a <br />public right-of--way by the neighborhood in which it is located or to which it is contiguous. <br />Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the Clerk send a letter to the petitioner addressing any <br />concerns. Mr. Inks seconded the motion which carried. <br />TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE RENEWAL - SHIPSHEWANA ON THE ROAD -JDL <br />CORPORATION <br />Mr. Gilot advised that the board is in receipt of an Application for a Transient Merchant License <br />Renewal for the above referred to event, as submitted by JDL Corporation, 10740 Three Mile <br />Road, East Leroy, Michigan 49051, to conduct the sale of a variety of goods, including but not <br />limited to, crafts, clothing, jewelry, and home decor, on February 16, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 6:00 <br />p.m. and on February 17, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mr. Gilot stated that favorable <br />recommendations have been received by the Police Department, Fire Department and the <br />Building Commissioner. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell <br />and carried the License Application for Transient Merchant Renewal was approved. <br />1 <br />1 <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the following traffic <br />control devices were approved: <br />NEW INSTALLATION <br />LOCATION: <br />REMARKS: <br />Handicapped Accessible Parking Sign <br />421 South Meade Street <br />All Criteria has been Met <br />1 <br />NEW INSTALLATION <br />LOCATION: <br />REMARKS: <br />Handicapped Accessible Parking Sign <br />1614 Leer Street <br />All Criteria has been Met <br />APPROVE WASTEWATER INDUSTRIAL DISCHARGE PERMIT <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Kim Thompson, Division of Environmental Services, <br />submitted the following Wastewater Discharge Permit and recommended approval: <br />
