~i_ REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 28, 2008 APPROVAL OF STREET CLOSURES/PROCESSIONS The following street closures and processions were presented for approval: Sponsor Description Date/Time Location Motion Carried National Task Procession - 4t July 13, 2008 - On Route as Submitted - Inks/Littrell Force Annual Ride 8:00 a.m. to Letter to Organizer of for Kids 1:30 p.m. Potential Road Construction Problems American Procession - October 11, Begin at the College Inks/Littrell Cancer Society Making Strides 2008 - 8:00 Football Hall of Fame Against Breast a.m. to 12:30 North on Michigan Cancer p.m. Street, East on Northshore Boulevard to the East Race, East Race to West on Jefferson Boulevard, North on Michigan Street to the College Football Hall of Fame FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION -PETITION TO VACATE THE WEST HALF OF THE FIRST EAST/WEST ALLEY NORTH OF PORTAGE BETWEEN LELAND AVENUE AND FOREST AVENUE Mr. Gilot indicated that the Near Northwest Neighborhood, Post Office Box 1132, South Bend, Indiana, 46624, has submitted a request to vacate the above referred to alley. Mr. Gilot advised the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Police Department, Fire Department, Department of Community & Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Area Plan stated the vacation would not hinder the growth or orderly development of the unit or neighborhood in which it is located or to which it is contiguous. The vacation would not make access to the lands of the aggrieved person by means of public way difficult or inconvenient. The vacation would not hinder the public's access to a church, school or other public building or place. The vacation would not hinder the use of a public right-of--way by the neighborhood in which it is located or to which it is contiguous. Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the Clerk send a letter to the petitioner addressing any concerns. Mr. Inks seconded the motion which carried. TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE RENEWAL - SHIPSHEWANA ON THE ROAD -JDL CORPORATION Mr. Gilot advised that the board is in receipt of an Application for a Transient Merchant License Renewal for the above referred to event, as submitted by JDL Corporation, 10740 Three Mile Road, East Leroy, Michigan 49051, to conduct the sale of a variety of goods, including but not limited to, crafts, clothing, jewelry, and home decor, on February 16, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on February 17, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department, Fire Department and the Building Commissioner.
