Board -met in regular session ast 7:45 P.M. All members present. <br />Board held first part of session in the Council Chambers, owing to the crowd of property <br />owners on Mishawaka Avenue nand Eddy Street pavement improvement hearing* <br />The, decision of the Board being held up until this date on the Eddy Street <br />and Mishawka Avenue pavement improvement from Jefferson Blvd. to Sample Street Bridge and <br />from Eddy Street to the center of Nineteenth Street, under Improvement Resolut=ion No.- 417 <br />in the City of South Benxi , Indian-.. <br />In the above matter a few remonstrator s appeared against the putting in <br />of the pavement this year. Also over one hundred p rope rty owners on Mis haw ka Avenue and Eddy <br />Street and in River Park appeared` for the pavement to be put in thisyear.(Mr. C. D. Emmons <br />requested that, the -improvement be postponed one year on f:.ccount of the settlment of the <br />sewer,also that they were unable: to get steel rails very so on) And the Board being fully <br />advised in the premises, decides that the benefits to the property liable to be assessed <br />for soid improvements are equal to the estimated cost of ,the same, as reported by the City <br />Civil Engineer, t-.nd thereupon takes final action on said resolution as modified. Pavement <br />on Eddy Street from Je_ferson Blvd. to Mishawaka Avenue and on Mishawaka Avenue from Eddy Street <br />to tie center of Nineteenth Street, and the —se —me is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed <br />and approved. <br />Resolved further, that notices be published on the 7th-day of April <br />and on the l4 _"i of April 1916 in a. newspeper of gener{,l circulation in said City, stating <br />that this Board will receive bids for the constructionof said improvements up to 10:00 <br />A.M.. on the 16 day of May,1916. The Board reserves the. right to reject any and all bids. <br />Clerk instructed. to advertise in outside journals for bids. <br />In the matter of the defefd hearing on the assessment roll for the <br />Widening of Webster Street and Indiana Avenue. Mr. Noland appeared before the Board <br />and stated ne A interested .in having Indiana Avenge opened up. Mr. Ryell T. Miller, represe— <br />nting Mrs. Mary L. Hoover ppposed to the widening of the Street. Mr. - Carbinier did not think <br />his dhmages should be reduced any. The Board after due consideration decided to . defer all <br />action on said assessment roll until tuesday April 4th.,1916. at 7.45 P.M. <br />. Mr. Lindner appeared before the Board in regard to having an alley <br />in his plat crAnged opposite Linder Street so as to interesteet. . The Board instructed him to <br />take this matter up with some of the other property holdera and see if same was agreeable to <br />them. <br />Contract for the repair And construction of cement sidewalks on Various <br />Streets in the City undo r Improvement Resolution No. 422, was awarded to H. N. Barnes. <br />The following w< s filed by the City Engineer. <br />To the Board of Public Works, <br />of the City of South. Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemew— Referring to the complaint of Mr. John Emberlain of Haney Ave. in regard to <br />Michigan Street Trunk.sevver assessment. I have taken this matter up with -Messrs Bugbee and <br />Sehock, Abstractors, and they -,hi ve promised to pay the -Treasurer- Mr. Emberlains penalties <br />and; I have noti ied ;ors. Emberlin to pay_ their portion of the assessment immediately. She <br />promised that this would be done Saturday. April lst . ,1916. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />FREDERICK J.
