Approval of Minutes <br /> Mr. Mullins made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular Board meeting held on <br /> November 21, 2011 and the special meeting held November 29, 2011 as mailed. The <br /> motion was seconded by Ms. Hill and approved. <br /> VIII. Approval of Maintenance Vouchers <br /> A motion was made by Mr. Goodrich to approve maintenance vouchers for November 2011 <br /> totaling $890,237.87. <br /> It was seconded by Ms. Hill. There being no further discussion,the motion was passed. <br /> IX. Business of Director St. Clair <br /> 1. Director St. Clair reported that he has had talks with the School Corporation regarding <br /> the possibility of partnering with them pertaining to elementary and middle school <br /> athletics and after school programs. He gave the board a copy of what we are currently <br /> doing with the schools. <br /> 2. He informed the board that the department was informed last week by the Indiana Parks <br /> and Recreation Association that we have been awarded the "Outstanding Parks and Recreation <br /> Agency for 2011". This is the first time this award has been given and he felt it was special <br /> because it reflects the efforts of the entire department and not a single program or event. He <br /> listed a number of highlights for 2011. <br /> 3. In addition,he recognized Susan O'Connor for receiving the "Distinguished Life <br /> Membership" award. He commended her for her service to our department and the IPRA. <br /> 4. He let the board know that there has been no further discussion of the fire station at <br /> Potawatomi. <br /> 5. He wanted to thank Tom Bodnar for his years of service as the Park Board attorney and <br /> wished him well in his retirement. <br /> X. Comments by the Recreation Director <br /> 1. Ms. O'Connor reported that"Around Town for the Holidays"was held the first weekend <br /> in December and consisted of the tree lighting ceremony and the breakfast and tea with <br /> Santa. The turnout was good for these events. However, due to the rain, Sunday's skating <br /> event was canceled. <br /> 2. The Ice Rink opened on schedule but closed the next day because of weather. Since then <br /> weather has been a factor in keeping the rink closed. <br /> 3. The Charles Black Holiday Gala at Century Center was held last Saturday and raised <br /> $750 for their after school program. <br /> 4. A senior Christmas luncheon was held at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center that was <br /> sponsored by the St. Joseph Medical Center. Four hundred attended the luncheon. <br /> 5. The City Wellness Lunch was held last Thursday to celebrate the successes of employees <br /> in the program. <br /> - -3 - - <br />
