X1. Comments by the Golf Operations Director <br /> 1. Mr.Nowacki reported that Erskine is still open and 45 golfers were on the course today. <br /> 2. He discussed the master plan for Elbel with the Board. Phase 1 would be to address the <br /> present bunkers and opening wooded areas. Phase 2 consists of rebuilding the present tee <br /> boxes and adding new. Phase 3 involves installing new bunkers and traps and widening <br /> some fairways. <br /> 3. Mr.Nowacki requested permission to advertise for bids for golf cars. They are <br /> investigating a lease purchase arrangement to finance the purchase. <br /> Mr. Goodrich made a motion to advertise for bids for golf cars. Ms. Hill seconded the <br /> motion and it was passed. <br /> XH. Comments by the Central Mowing and Graffiti Abatement Supervisor <br /> 1. Mr. John Martinez reported on the work Central Mowing does. They mow 476 City <br /> owned lots, lots owned by Economic Development, and lots that are cited by Code <br /> Enforcement for high grass or weeds. City lost range from 26 acres to tree lawns. A <br /> dedicated 10 person crew is use for this mowing. This year 3,454 cited lots were cut and <br /> 1,061 City lots and 726 Economic Development lots. <br /> The Graffiti Abatement Program began this summer to address the problem of graffiti. The <br /> Police Department had 387 sites logged before the program started. 567 sites have been <br /> cleaned since June. It is a year round program that has one full time employee and 2-3 <br /> seasonal employees. <br /> 2. The leaf program is done in neighborhoods and the stockpiled leaves in parks are being <br /> removed. <br /> 3. They are gearing up for snow removal. <br /> XHI. Comments by the Development Director <br /> 1. Mr. Payton reported that the Parks Foundation is selling paper Christmas tree lights <br /> around town for $1 each as a donation to offset the cost of the Morris Christmas tree lighting. <br /> 2. The Foundation will be involved with the Blues Fest this year with sponsorships. <br /> 3. In January we will be meeting regarding the Healthy Communities Initiative. <br /> 4. The new activity guide went out this week to the schools. <br /> 5. He gave the Board a listing of sponsorships and partnerships. <br /> XIV. Comments by the Zoo Director <br /> 1. Ms. Arriaga let the Board know that the Zoo is closed for the season. <br /> 2. Their female red panda died over Thanksgiving weekend.Necropsy results aren't <br /> available yet. She is working to find a replacement. <br /> 3. A white napped crane chick was euthanized due to seizure activity. <br /> XV. There being no more business to come before the Board the meeting adjourned at 6 pm <br /> - - 4 - - <br />
