Area Board of Zoning Appeals—January 4, 2012
MRS. HENRY: Mr. Hawley?
MR. HAWLEY: Yes.
MRS. HENRY: Mr. Crumlish?
MR. CRUMLISH: Yes.
MRS. HENRY: Mr. Matthys?
MR. MATT14YS: Yes.
MRS. HENRY: Mr. VeIleman?
MR. VELLEMAN: Yes.
MRS. HENRY: Mr. Phipps?
MR. PHIPPS: Yes.
MRS. HENRY: Mr. Urbanski?
MR. URBANSKI: Yes. So the variances with the exception of two and seven which is the buffer and the
parking spaces. Now can we send it with a favorable recommendation because they would need...?
MR. PHIPPS: Well I think we can send it so I'll make a motion to send it with an unfavorable
recommendation but with the recommendation that if it is approved by the Common Council it would be
only with the condition that no alcohol would be served. The reason why is, I guess I'm comfortable with
this proposed use. It seems to me it's too much like a bar with pool tables, the size, the addition of the
outdoor patio, maybe you can make a business for it with non-alcoholic beverage and two pool tables but it
doesn't seem logical to me so I'm more comfortable...
MR. URBANSKI: 2,000 square foot building.
MR. PHIPPS: Yeah, especially if major structural changes to change it from a cleaners to a cafe. Tome it
just doesn't quite add up. So I move that we send it with an unfavorable recommendation but the note that
the condition that if is approved by the City Council it would include the condition that there be no alcoholic
beverages.
MR. HAWLEY: I'll second that.
MR. URBANSKI: Call for the vote please.
30
