South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting—December 13, 2011
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
B. South Bend Central Development Area
(7) continued...
strongly that we can reduce those costs over
time with the right people creating and
maintaining a better, safer cleaner, more
user-friendly environment through
cooperation and coordination.
It is further recommended specific goals and
performance measurements be developed
during the next couple weeks. These would
then be included in the contract as
benchmarks for contract extension(s).
Mr. Varner asked Mr. Perri whether DTSB is
prepared to take on this additional, large task.
Mr. Perri responded that his team looked at
managing the on-street parking and garages
as part of the total downtown experience.
DTSB put together the DTSB Parking
Promise that guarantees to deliver a safe,
clean, professional, and hospitable parking
program that engages its users. Techniques
and staff already in place bring their
knowledge and expertise to partner with our
relationships and vision to deliver a cohesive
plan that compliments and enhances the
downtown parking experience.
Mr. Varner asked how a patron avoids
having to move their car every two hours?
Mr. Perri replied that some things are already
creatively in place to make sure the two hour
spots are reserved for the customers and
visitors to downtown.
Mr. Downes stated that DTSB was in the best
position to make a difference in this regard.
35
