South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting—December 13, 2011
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
A. Public Hearings
(6) Consideration of Resolution No. 2969.
Upon a motion by Ms. King, seconded by COMMISSION APPROVED RESOLUTION No.2969
Mr. Downes and unanimously carried, the CONFIRMING A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE
Commission approved Resolution No. 2969 DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE NORTHEAST
NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT UREA.
confirming a resolution amending the
Development Plan for the Northeast
Neighborhood Development Area.
B. South Bend Central Development Area
(3) Proposal for appraisal of 211 W.
Washington Street.
Mr. Inks noted that staff sent out a request
for proposals to area MAI-certified
appraisers on November 28 for conducting
an appraisal of the parking garage portion of
the Chase Tower(211 W Washington).
David Waszak Appraisals and Michaels
Appraisal Services responded with the two
lowest-cost bids submitted, for $4400 and
$5000, respectively. Staff requests approval
of these Professional Services Agreements.
Whether the city becomes involved in a
transaction at that location, either before or
after the end of the year, the parking garage
would be the likely method of financially
participating. It would be important to know
the value of that structure, whether this deal
for the Chase Tower proceeds or some
subsequent project.
Mr. Downes wondered if we wouldn't have
to get the building reappraised at additional
cost if this project does not go forward, if too
much time passed before another project
came forward.
25
