Wednesday August 23rd.5 1922. Continued. Hearing given on Vacation Resolution No. 62 for the Vacation of grace Street from a point two hundred forty-nine feet east of the east line of Arnold Street, to the east end of said street, a distance of thirty-eight feet. Ford Street from a point two hundred thirty-five feet east of the east line of Arnold Street to the east, end of said street, a distance of gif$y -two feet. Alley between and parallel with Ford Street and Grace Streets from a point two hundred thirty-five feet east of the east line of.Arnold Street, to the east end -of said alley, a distance of fifty- two feet. Alley east„and of and parallll with Arnold Street, extending from the east end of Grace St., one hundred fifteen and one-half feet south to the alley, bbove described$ in the City of South Bend, Indiana. In the above matter a written remonstrance wqs filed by property owners objecting to_ the above vacation proceedings and remonstr€ t4r.s appeared. The Board after hearing all parties interested presented deferred this hearing until Wednesday August 30th., 1922 at 7:15 P.M. Property owners having places of business on South Michigan Street appeared before the Board and took up tie matter of placing more lights on South Michigan Street bet, Monroe Street and Broadway. The Board after hearing all parties interested advised property owners they :could make trip of investigation on South Michigan Street in regard to lights. Remonstrance filed as follows against pavement on Marine Street, resolution for%same approved August 16th.9 1922 and this being filed within the ten day limit. Gentlemen: - We, the undersigned resident property,owners, remonstrate. against any further action by your Honorable Body in the matter of improvement of Marine Street from Indiana Avenue to Calvert Street by pavement this year for the following reasons: That said improvement is not necessary for public needs. That the cost. of this proposed improvement would be excessive at this time and would be a hardship to,many owners and purchasers of property; and further thick it to late in the season to let a contract for, pavement.
