South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -December 7, 2007
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
A. Public Hearing
(5) continued...
gone up. They need to raise them. They are
being raised $1 for residents of St. Joseph
County and $2 for non residents.
Mr. Peczkowski asked if it is perceived that a
pro shop is necessary at any golf course,
especially since the Internet is now a
competitor. Mr. Reid responded that they
have lost $200,000 of revenue because they
don't have an indoor controlled environment
in the clubhouse. They refer customers to the
Blue Heron for that type of business, but
people prefer a place where they can play
golf and have an eating event without getting
in their cars to go to an eating venue. DLZ
took its outing to Morris Park for that reason.
Blackthorn needs to upgrade its clubhouse to
keep up with the competition.
Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by
Mr. King and unanimously carried, the
Commission approved Resolution No. 2405
appropriating monies for the purpose of
defraying the expenses of certain local public
improvements for the fiscal year beginning
January 1, 2008 and ending December 31,
2008, including all outstanding claims and
obligations, fixing a time when the same
shall take effect. (Blackthorn Golf Course)
Mr. King noted that last year the
Commission asked Blackthorn to establish a
sinking fund to pay for future capital
improvements and they have done that, using
their own funds instead of TIF funds. There
was comment earlier about deciding whether
COMMISSION APPROVED RESOLUTION NO. 2405
APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF
DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF CERTAIN LOCAL
PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2008 AND ENDING
DECEMBER 31, 2008, INCLUDING ALL
OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS,
FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE
EFFECT.
