Public Hearing <br />(4) continued... <br />was an error. <br />Ms. Jones opened the public hearing on PusLic HEARING oN RESOLUTION No. 2405 <br />Resolution No. 2405 for anyone who wished <br />to speak. There was no one who wished to <br />speak. Ms. Jones closed the public hearing <br />on Resolution No. 2405. <br />(5) Commission approval requested for <br />Resolution No. 2405. <br />Mr. Peczkowski noted that it appears the pro <br />shop is a drain on the course as whole. It <br />doesn't seem to be pulling its weight. <br />Concessions are doing very well. He asked <br />what the strategy is to address the pro shop's <br />losing money. Rick Reid, General Manager <br />of Blackthorn Golf Course, said they have <br />taken measures to increase their margins in <br />the pro shop. They instituted C1ubFest, a <br />large merchandise sale. Bobicks <br />discontinued its Tent Sale. Blackthorn felt it <br />could capitalize on that additional market for <br />merchandise. This was the first year for Club <br />Fest. They think they can do better with it <br />next year. Also, the outings business has <br />been very competitive this year. Country <br />clubs have taken some of Blackthorn's <br />business. They have used the merchandise <br />prizes as a loss leader. <br />Mr. Peczkowski noted the increased course <br />fees. He asked if that was for both <br />residential and non residential. Mr. Reid <br />responded that Blackthorn has kept rates flat <br />for the last three years while expenses have <br />30 <br />
