This existing road is currently maintained <br />by the City. <br />Darden Road Widening <br />$750,000 (2006) <br />This project entails the widening of this section of road to handle the increased traffic due to the <br />large amount of residential development in this area along with the new bridge construction. This <br />is a joint project with St. Joseph County. <br />Funding Source <br />Activi ,Date Local Roads and Streets Fund (LRSA) <br />2006 750 000 <br />TOTAL $750,000 <br />Projected On oig •ng_Operating Cost Impact <br />Only minimal additional operating costs are anticipated. This existing road is currently maintained <br />by the City. <br />South Michigan Street -Ireland to Chippewa $2,000,000 (2005) <br />& Ireland -Lafayette to Michigan <br />Intersection improvements are needed to reduce congestion on all legs of the Ireland/Michigan <br />intersection including Main at Ireland and Lafayette at Ireland. The new Parks Administration and <br />Recreation Center on Walter Street will require improvements on Michigan Street at Walter, <br />including removal ofnon-mountable center median on Michigan Street. No pedestrian facilities are <br />installed on either side of Michigan, Main, or Ireland. Access control is needed on the west side of <br />Michigan.
