pY3 Tit <br /> g <br /> U 01 <br /> CITY OF SOUTH BEND STEPHEN J.LUECKE,MAYOR <br /> DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION & FINANCE <br /> GREGG D.ZIENTARA <br /> CONTROLLER <br /> September 7, 2019 C r4 <br /> L l l <br /> Mr. Derek Dieter <br /> President, South Send Common Council <br /> 4 1h Floor, County-City Building <br /> South Bend, IN 46601 <br /> re: Ordinance of the Common Council Appropriating Monies to Purchase Police Vehicles <br /> Dear President Dieter: <br /> Find herewith enclosed for filing with the Common Council, a spending ordinance bill appropriating <br /> monies in the amount of$95,000 from the General Fund #101, for the purchase of four (4) Investigative/ <br /> Administrative Police vehicles including all necessary emergency equipment, i.e., lights, siren, speakers, <br /> etc. <br /> Specific vehicle make and model for the four (4) vehicles will be determined following the appropriation <br /> approval. The vehicles will be acquired through either the State of Indiana QPA, Federal Government <br /> GSA Auto Choice Program, or existing 2011 Board of Public Works Vehicle Bid Award. <br /> The monies used to fund the vehicle acquisition will be from existing cash balance in the general fund <br /> which has accumulated over the last twenty-four (24) months, from insurance settlements received from <br /> third party insurance carriers for vehicle damages caused by third party events. <br /> At,present, the city has a current balance of$913,110 received from third party insurance carriers with the <br /> sole intended use to fund the replacement of the vehicles damaged by the third party's. With Council <br /> approval of this appropriation, the remaining unused balance of insurance reimbursement will be $18,110 <br /> sequestered in the general fund to accumulate for future third party damaged vehicle replacement. <br /> This bill is presented to Council for 1't read on September 12, 2"d read, public hearing, 3i' read and <br /> Council vote at the September 26, 2011 Council meeting. <br /> Chief of Police Boykins will present this bill to Council at the appropriate committee session and at the <br /> Council eeting, <br /> Regards - .....�___.�...,.� <br /> a <br /> r Fded hn C*Ierkls office f <br /> Gregg D: ie tara ..�. <br /> cc: Ste en J.
