Cemetery to a point approximately 39.0 feet North of the Northwest <br />Corner of Lot 6 of Kuespert & Sommer's Addition (now noted as Block <br />W44- Parcel 7); thence Northeasterly along a projected line and parallel <br />' with the Northwesterly line of Kuespert & Sommer's Addition to the <br />intersection of the centerline of LaPorte Avenue; thence Northwesterly <br />along the centerline of LaPorte Avenue to the intersection of the projected <br />centerline of the first 14.0 foot East -West alley lying North of LaSalle <br />Court; thence East along the centerline of said alley to the intersection of <br />the West property line of Lot 1, part of the original Lot 1 of Chapin's <br />Subdivision of bank outlots 1 and 2; thence South along the West <br />property line of said Lot 1 to the Northwest corner of Lot 3 of Horatio <br />Chapin Subdivision (now noted as Block W52- Parcel 6); thence <br />Southeasterly along the North property line of Lots 3,5,7,9 and 11 (now <br />noted as Block W52 - Parcels 6,7,8,9 and 10) to the intersection of the <br />centerline of William Street; thence South along the centerline of William <br />Street to the point of beginning; and <br />WHEREAS, the Commission desires to amend Resolution No. 818 by expanding the West <br />Washington Chapin Development Area to include Expansion Area No. 2 so as to facilitate and enhance <br />the replanning, development and disposition of property within the Area, which Expansion Area no. 2 <br />is described as follows: <br />A PARCEL of land being a part of the City of South Bend, Portage Township, St. Joseph <br />County, Indiana and being more particularly described as follows, viz: <br />A Parcel of land being a part of Section 10, and a part of Section 11, <br />Township 37 North, Range 2 East, City of South Bend, Portage <br />Township, St. Joseph County, Indiana, and being more particularly <br />described as follows: <br />COMMENCING at the centerline intersection of Laurel Road with the <br />centerline of Western Avenue, being the point of beginning; thence North <br />along the centerline of Laurel Road to the Easterly projection of the <br />Southerly right -of -way line of the first 14.0 foot alley; thence West along <br />the projected and South right -of -way line of said alley to the intersection <br />of the East right -of -way line of Maple Street and West property line of <br />Lot A, Baker's Subdivision (unrecorded); thence South along the East <br />right -of -way line of Maple Street and West property line of said Lot A to <br />the easterly projection of the Southerly right -of -way line of the first 14.0 <br />foot alley North of Western Avenue; thence West along the South right - <br />of -way line of said alley to the intersection of the East right -of -way line <br />of Walnut Street; thence South along the East right -of -way line of Walnut <br />Street to the intersection of the North right -of -way line of the Conrail <br />Railroad property (formerly known as the Penn Central Railroad); thence <br />southeasterly along said right -of -way line to the intersection of the <br />centerline of Western Avenue; thence east along the centerline of <br />Western Avenue to the point of beginning; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 39 of the Act permits the creation of an allocation area within a blighted <br />area to provide for the allocation and distribution, as provided in the Act, of the proceeds of taxes levied <br />on property situated in the allocation area; and <br />WHEREAS, the Commission, in accordance with the Act, has previously established the West <br />Washington- Chapin Allocation Area; and <br />WHEREAS, the Commission, in accordance with the Act, expanded the boundaries of the West <br />Washington- Chapin Allocation Area to include Expansion Area No. 1 by the adoption of Resolution <br />No. 908 adopted on February 23, 1990, and referred to the Allocation Area, as expanded, as "West <br />Washington- Chapin Allocation Area (West Washington- Chapin Allocation Area No. IA).
