South Bend Redevelopment Commission Regular Meeting— December 21, 2001 7. PROGRESS REPORTS (CONT.) development; Deluxe Sheet Metal began construction of its new facility; Bosch Corporation invested $2.3M into their new facility which retained over 500 jobs in the city; received $3.8M in state and local funds for the Bosch project; Tire Rack moved into their new 500,000 sft facility; Gibbs Wire moved into their new 200,000 sft facility; Abro Facilities moved into their new 13,000 sft office buidling in Blackthorn Corporate Park; Indiana Supply moved into its 25,000 sft facility in the U.S. Industrial Park; Koontz Wagner moved into the former Dynamic Fab building in the U.S. 31 Industrial Park; purchased four residential units to facilitate the improvements on Olive Road in the future; completed design of the new Olive Road. In the Sample Ewing Development Area the followng progress has been made during 2001: land sale to George Podell; land sale for Miami Auto Glass; worked with Collins Music to relocate to Miami Street; sorted out the deed work on New Hope Gospel Church; currently working with United Beverage on relocation to US 31 Ind. Park; currently working with expansion of Real Services; currently working on the acquisition of 57 properties for the South East neighborhood development; currently developing an overall infrastructure /corridor plan for SEDA. In the Studebaker /Oliver Plow Works we negotiated acquisition of Oliver Plow and the former stamping plant property from Allied Products; in conjunction with the UEZ, we submitted a grant application to the Indiana Department of Commerce Brownfields Program for $35,000 to fund a portion of the Phase II Environmental Site Assessment for Area A (grant was approved); conducted a Phase II environmental for area A (south of Sample St.); submitted a grant application to the Indiana Development Finance 13
