South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting —March 21, 2003
5. OLD BUSINESS (CONT.)
A. Sample -Ewing Development Area
(1) continued...
building presently being used by Bell Parts
Supply is currently being negotiated for sale.
Bell Parts indicated that, in the event it was
necessary to relocate from its present site, it
desired to move to the Parcel 7 site on
Sample Street because it would be a
reasonable distance from where they are
now and hopefully keep the business that
they have had for twenty seven years. There
is a design plan for a 5,000 sq ft new
building. Bell Parts Supply is concerned
about losing customers with a relocation and
planned to advertise that new location to let
all previous customers know where the new
facility will be. Mr. Bell noted that he
believed his. business would be an asset to
Sample Street and the area. The business is
well established and have numerous repeat
customers.
Mr. Dennis Keilman, Bell Parts Supply, Inc.,
spoke next regarding future expansion. The
design for the new building now is actually
5,500 sq ft and the plan is to eventually
expand the building to the rear. The design
plans already include the expansion plan.
Mr. Keilman also believes the building will
be an asset to the area putting a retail
business in a basically industrial area.
Mr. Kahn asked what kind of time frame
would be necessary.
Mr. Keilman responded that the time frame
is directly linked to the sale of their current
C,
