6. NEW BUSINESS
A. South Bend Central Development Area
(1) continued...
The bid amount is $250,000 with a check
enclosed as a Faithful Performance Guaranty
in the amount of $25,000.
Upon a motion by Mr. Faccenda, seconded
by Ms. Jones and unanimously carried, the
Commission referred the bid to staff for
review and recommendation.
(2) Commission approval requested for
proposal for engineering services in the
South Bend Central Development Area.
(Jefferson /St. Joseph Street Garage)
Mr. Mathia reported that at the April 17,
2003 Redevelopment Commission Meeting,
the Commission approved Kaser - Spraker
Construction to perform emergency repairs
for the Jefferson/St. Joseph Street garage. It
was then determined that the services of an
engineering firm were necessary to inspect
the work and provide technical direction.
Paul Fujawa Engineers, Inc. was contacted
due to the firm's familiarity with the garage,
resulting from a structural survey it
completed November 27, 2002. Staff
recommends approval of the emergency
procurement of the professional services of
Paul Fujawa Engineers, Inc. in an amount
not to exceed $400.00.
Mr. Hunt inquired as to the status of the
repair.
Mr. Mathia responded that the repair is
complete; however, another repair is needed
due to cracking found in the basement area.
This second repair will be shored up with
wood timbers.
Al
COMMISSION REFERRED THE BID TO STAFF FOR
REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION.
