South Bend Central Development Area <br />(4) continued... <br />the Hotel LaSalle property from DTSB to the <br />City of South Bend, staff recommends approval <br />of a contract with Schindler Elevator <br />Corporation due to their proprietary knowledge <br />of the three Haughton elevators for $8,234. <br />Ms. Greene asked if the transfer of the Hotel <br />LaSalle property to the Commission had been <br />completed. <br />Mr. Williams replied that the transfer was not <br />completed. <br />Ms. Greene responded that if the Commission <br />40�1 does not own the building, contractors retained <br />by the Commission should not be on the <br />property, and at this point in time, the <br />Commission has no authority to approve such a <br />contract. <br />Mr. Hunt commented that the Hotel LaSalle was <br />just added to the South Bend Central <br />Development Area acquisition list at the last <br />regular meeting of February 20, 2004. Mr. Hunt <br />then asked if DTSB had ordered the elevator <br />repair work to be done. <br />Mr. Mathia responded that the repair work had <br />not been ordered. <br />Ms. Greene stated that DTSB needed to order <br />the elevator repairs, or the Commission needed <br />to hold off on the contract until after the <br />property was transferred to the Commission. <br />The property owner is currently DTSB.
