Redevelopment Commission Meeting
Rescheduled Regular Meeting —October 8, 2004
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
C. South Bend Central Development Area
(2) Commission approval requested for
execution of an Access Agreement between
the South Bend Redevelopment
Commission and Northern Indiana
Historical Society, Inc. related to the
Studebaker National Museum Relocation
Project.
Mr. Laurent noted that the City and
Department of Redevelopment would grant
the Northern Indiana Historical Society
ingress /egress access along an east -west
easement running on the north end of the
property that will house the Studebaker
National Museum. This will allow the
Northern Indiana Historical Society to access
the east side of their building for any repair
or maintenance needs. The document the
Commission has seen is a draft. Therefore
staff recommends the Commission approve it
subject to final review by the Legal
Department.
Ms. Greene noted that she has received the
final forms of agreement prepared by
Attorney Andy Nickle. They are consistent
with all of the negotiations. The only change
from the draft that was provided to the
Commission prior to the meeting is the
inclusion of language that relates to specifics
of how the surface of the easement area will
be treated. That change includes the
following language: "that it will be a paved
surface consisting of 7 in. thick hot mix
asphaltic concrete pavement on a 10 in. thick
aggregate base 12ft wide from Chapin for
approximately 100 ft. and then widening to
an irregular shape using the available space
10
