Housing <br />(5) continued... <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Hojnacki, seconded <br />by Mr. Downes and unanimously carried, the <br />Commission approved the loan and grant in <br />connection with the South Bend Home <br />Improvement Program for property located at <br />1054 Barberry Lane. (Eleanor E. Bottom <br />D. South Bend Central Development Area <br />(1) Commission approval requested for <br />proposal for landscaping improvements in <br />the South Bend Central Development <br />Area. <br />Mr. Mathia noted that Nat Buraprateep, the <br />current owner of Siam Restaurant, has <br />purchased the former Senor Kelly's building <br />on Michigan Street. He is rehabbing the <br />building and intends to open an upscale <br />Fusion restaurant and bar that will be called <br />NoMa. He hopes to open by the end of <br />October. <br />Mr. Buraprateep has submitted a proposal <br />requesting that the Commission fund <br />infrastructure improvements to the <br />immediately adjacent public alley, known as <br />Allen's Alley, to enhance this development. <br />Joe Dzerla, his architect, has completed some <br />landscaping plans that have been reviewed <br />by Redevelopment and Engineering staff. <br />The drawings submitted present modest but <br />important improvements, appropriate in scale <br />and design for the location, and the greening <br />of the space will not be in conflict with <br />anything proposed for the adjacent 101 N. <br />� <br />8 <br />COMMISSION APPROVED THE LOAN AND GRANT <br />IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOUTH BEND HOME <br />IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR PROPERTY <br />LOCATED AT 1054 BARBERRY LANE.
