Mr. Diaz was surprised that the city was <br />interested in buying the building when he , himsel:f, <br />would hke to buy the building. Mr. Pee l o wsi x <br />belleves to re is private interest and that the <br />Commission is jumping the gun to put it on its <br />acquisition list in two weeks. Mr. Dias claims his <br />interest in the block would be to rehab it. He <br />would not de.nio lsb it. 'He is conecmed about his <br />inability to rent the Witmer-- McNeese building. So <br />far the only contact has be has had for his space is <br />from a bar, which he `eels is an incompatible use <br />with the tenant upstairs, an art studio. Mr. r. Diaz <br />.popes the city will back off on. the Fat Daddys <br />purchase. <br />Upon a motion by Mr. King, seconded. b :Mr. <br />Downes and unanimously carried, the Commission <br />accepted the petition presented regarding purchase <br />and demolition of the 500 block of South Michigan <br />Street. <br />5.
