South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -July 20, 2007
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
A. Public Hearings
continue ...
Square area into the Airport TIF district. The
LaSalle Square area is directly adjacent to the
current Airport TIF boundary and is in need
of revitalization.
We also support adding the Marycrest/
Hurwich area and the Sample-Ewing
Redevelopment Area to the Airport TIF
district. Completing the preparation of these
areas for future economic development could
have an even greater impact on the
revitalization of South Bend.
South Bend's City Plan discusses the
necessity, when planning economic
development, "for awareness of the
community's assets and liabilities in order to
build on the positives and reduce perceived
weaknesses."
South Bend's West Side is an historic and
current asset. Use of available economic
development resources will strengthen our
ability to make necessary improvements and
build on this asset for the benefit of our
community, the entire city, and all of St.
Joseph County. We petition you to adopt
today's resolution and look forward to our
mutual efforts to revitalize our west side
neighborhoods.
PASTOR MILLER: Faith Apostolic
Ministries. We are the property owners of
the LaSalle Square. We have with us today
Mr. John Wilhite, president of the Board of
Real Estate, Indiana University Bloomington.
9
