Sales Company of Chicago, <br />including one pump, one spray gun, two 14 oz. empty jars and twelve'l oz. <br />jars-filled With tannic acid powder to be put up in a veneered case. <br />The matter'was referred back to the Chief with instructions to take it <br />up with Dr. Carter of the Health Department for his judgment in the use. <br />of it. <br />Applications for firemen were received from Cecil Otis Robertson and <br />Eugene B. Heick and ordered placed on file. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - Mr. Qualls present: <br />— Mr. Qualls submitted a letter written to him by Francis J. Book, <br />First Radio Operator, requesting privilege of attending a convention of <br />the-Associated Police Communidation*Officers at Indianapolis from -- <br />October 7th to 10th. Upon Mr. Qualls' recommendation that there would be <br />considerable advantage in attending this convention the Board, by regular <br />motion authorized an expenditure of not to exceed 615.00 And Mr. Qualls <br />was instructed to notify Mr. Book to attend the convention. <br />A communication from Victor DeFrees and a Petition signed by fourteen <br />property owners in the vicinity of Prairie Avenue and Sample Street . <br />requested that an overhead traffic signal be placed at this intersection, <br />due to the dangerous corner. After fully discussing this matter, the <br />Board instructed the Secretary to write Mr. DeFrees that they are <br />endeavoring to eliminate all overhead traffic signals and that for the <br />present this installation cannot be authorized. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - Chief Lane present: <br />Mr. L. Yy 011ier, President of the League of American Motorists, <br />appeared before the Board to discuss traffic violations and offered the <br />services of his Association for the purpose of reporting violations in <br />the City.
