224 <br />Board met in regular session a t 7:45 P.M. All members present.. <br />�4 In the matter of ahearing on the opening of a highway south of Sample <br />Street to Erring Avenue, under Condemnation Resolution No. 20. All action on the <br />same was ' deferred until Tuesday ,Maur 5th. ,1914 at 7:45 P.M. <br />The following reports were "filed by the Cite Civil Engineer. <br />To the Hon. Board of Public Works <br />of the City of South. Bend, Indiana. <br />f Gentlemen: -- <br />In the matter of bids for the improvement of Pennsylvania Ave. from <br />Michigan Street to Miami Street according to the improvement Resolution No. 296 <br />passed. Fe bruary 17th.11914. I beg to report that I have tabulated the same and <br />find that the bid of Stables and Ackerman is the lowest bid for brick and tree bid of <br />the .Jackson Construction Co. is the lowest for Asphaltic Concrete and that the bid <br />of Rankert & Eggleston is the lowest and best bid for Asphalt. <br />Very respectfully, <br />WM. S. MOORE <br />City Engineer. <br />ORDER SELECTING KIND OF PAVEMENT. <br />Concerning the improvement of the roadway of Pennsylvania Ave.from <br />J <br />Michigan Street to Hiami Street, in pursuance of Improvement Resolution No. 296. <br />1914, the preliminary order for the iriproveme_it heretofore adopted is hereby con- s <br />firmed. The Board now orders that so much of the said street be improved with ASPIIAlL <br />ASPHALT and awards the contract to Rankert Eggleston theY being the lowest and best <br />bidders. <br />E. M. The final award to be made by Ikay 9th.,1914 at 10:00 A.M. <br />Partial estimate allowed Stewart -Sheets Co. on the Bowman Creek Trunk <br />sewer for the amount of... ........ ...................................¢ 7125.00 <br />To the Hon. Board of Public Works <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen: - <br />Regarding the completion of the grading on the Durham Street Trunk sewer <br />V system. I beg to report that I have investigated the matter and find that Mr. L.H. <br />Webster have completed the work in accordance with his contract and recommand that <br />he be allowed the balance of his money. <br />VERY- TRULY; <br />M. S. MOORE <br />• CITY ENGINEER. <br />The above reported was filed by the Enginneer and approved by the Eoard. <br />The Street Commissioner reported on the following petitions. <br />Cinders were ordered placed on intersection at South Scott Street <br />✓ and Blanche Street. <br />The placing -of a light at the corner of Portage Avenue and <br />/ McCartney Street was ordered deferred. The same was placed on file. <br />The placing; of a street light at the La Salle Avenue Bridge was <br />not recommended favorable by the Street Commissioner, there being another light <br />f at Hridge St. ly2' block away. The Same was placed on file. <br />The placing of a street light at Ewing Avenue and South Ivlichdgan <br />J Street reported unfavorable by the Street Commissioner, there being a light 1 <br />block away. The same was placed on file. <br />
