Tuesday April 28th.21914 Continua <br />Petition Ifiled with the Board for the opening of Scott Street north <br />to Colfax Avenue. The same was read and referred to the Bity Civil Engineer for investi— <br />gation . <br />Permission was granted to the Indiana Mic,higan Electric Company to <br />set the following poles. <br />To set a pole about 15ft. east of Ste venson Underwear 1t3z.`l1s driveway <br />at t rr curb line on the south side of Colfax Avenue. Also Pole JIM 7712 that is now <br />standing in this driveway, and also to remove a stub just east of this pole that is <br />holding the stack guys for the Stevenson Underwear Mills. <br />Also to change the location of pole_ JIM 7747 at the northeast corner <br />of La Salle Ave. and Hydraulic Ave., to a poht on Hydraulic Ave. just north of the <br />present location of the pole, : so that that the pole gill set on the building line and <br />be in line with poles recentlI set b T the Street Car Company on the north side of LaSalle <br />Avenue. These are approved on property line with consent of the property owner,a.lso <br />jointly with the both street car companies as a guy pole.. <br />Permission was granted the Central Union Telephone Company to set <br />two 30ft. poles in alley north of Corby St. between St. Peter and St. Louis Sts to <br />on east side of alley. Also to stencil poles on N. Turnock St. <br />Communication received f'roT, the Indiana &- Micaigan Electric Company <br />stating that street lamp was placed in service at the intersection of Poland and Meade <br />✓ Streets 4/12/14. <br />LOCAL SEWER IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION N0. 310. <br />Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indi— <br />Coux ty of St. Joseph, State of Indiana2 That the construction Of a local sever, intended <br />and adopted only for local use by the property holders whose property abuts thereon, and <br />not intended or adapted for receiving sewerage from collateral drains, be and the same <br />is, hereby ordered in and along VASSAR AVENUE FROi,.I PORTAGE AVENUE TO RIVERSIDE DRIVE�Siz; <br />begin at the center of Woodward Avenue and Vassar Avenue,thenceo� <br />along the center of Vassar Avenue to a point 20 feet west o.. the first alley <br />Woodward Avenue with a 10 inch vitrified pipe sewer. <br />Also begin at the intersection of Woodward Avenue and Vassar Avenue; <br />thence east along the center of said Vassar Avenue; to the center of the first alley east <br />of Woodward Avenue with a 10 inch vitrified pipe sewer; Together with the necessary <br />inlets ,manholes7 conduits and house connections to the curb line along the line of said <br />improvement. All as sholrn ^n the plans , profiles and detail drawings on file in the <br />office of the Department of Public Works. <br />And such improvement is ordered now. and said sewer, with all its <br />appurtenances shall be constructed in accordance with the profile and specifications <br />now on file in the office of the Department of Public -Works of said City. The cost <br />of said improvement shall be apportioned against and paid by the property holders whose <br />property abuts thereon, and upon the City of South Bend, if the City is benefited by <br />said improvement, all according to the method and manner provided for in Act of the <br />general Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled "An Act Concerning Municipal Corpor <br />abets," approved March 6,1905• Assessments, if deferred, are to be'- paid in ten equal <br />annual installments, with interest at the rate of Six per cent per annum. A bond �r bonds <br />shall be issued to the contractor in payment for such work, unless the property owners pay <br />said assessments before said bond or bonds are issued. Under no circumstances shall the C: <br />City of South Bend be or be held responsible for any sum or sums due from said property <br />owner or owners for said work, or for. the collection of sane, or for the payment of any bo <br />or bonds, certificate or certificates, issued to said contractor in payment for such work, <br />except for such moneys as sha11 have been actually received by the City from the assess <br />ments for such improvement, or such moneys as said City is by said above enetitled Act <br />required to pay, All proceedings had, and work done in the making of said improvement, <br />assessment of property, collections of assessments and issuance of bonds therefor, shall 1 <br />be as provided for iri said above entitled Act. <br />Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 1st. day of May, <br />1914 and on the £nth., day of May21914 ice. the South Bend Daily Tribune. This Board will <br />give a hearing o this resolution at its office in the City Hall on the 26th., day of <br />May,1914 at 7:45 P.M. <br />Adopted. this 21th. day of Apri1,1914. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC t!D RKS. <br />
