<br />Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South
<br />Bend, County of St. Joseph, State of Indiana; That it is desired and deemed
<br />necessary to construct a sewer is Meade Street from.Huron Street to Sample
<br />,Street as follows, to-witi-
<br />all:in said City, which, from its size and character
<br />is not only intended and adapted'for use by property owners whose property abuts
<br />along the line of Said serer, but is -'aloe intended and adapted for receiving
<br />sewage from collateral draIns already constructed or which may be hereafter
<br />constructed, and the same is hereby ord000d constructed in and along the follow-
<br />ing line in said City, retie to -wit:"
<br />Beginning at the manhole at the north line of
<br />,Huron -Street and the center line'of Meade Street; thence south along the center
<br />line of Meade Street to the center line of Poland Street with a 24 inch
<br />vitrified pipe sewer; thence stull south along the center line of -Meade Street
<br />to the center line of Fisher Street with an 18.inch vitrified pipe sewer; thence
<br />still south along the center line of Meade Street to the center line of Sample
<br />Street with a 15 inch vitrified pipe sewer. Also: Beginning at the interseet:iod
<br />of center line of Meade Street and Ford Street; thence west along the center liar
<br />line of Meade Street and Forth Street; -thence west along the center line of Ford
<br />Street with-& point 40 feet east of the east line of Kaley Street with a 10
<br />inch vitrified pipe server, together with the necessary manholes, storm water
<br />inlets, conduits and house connections to the curb line along the line of said
<br />improvement, all as is more particularly shown and all in accordance witl. thw
<br />pians,.profiles, detail drawings and specifications on file in the Office of. the
<br />Department of Public. Works of the City of South Bend, IndianA.
<br />And to.be built In accordance with the profiles, specificatie
<br />detail drawings, maps and estimates now on'file in the Office of the Department
<br />of Public works'of said City, which includes an estimate of the proportion
<br />that the cost of an adequate local sewer, built along the above line, bears to
<br />the cost of the main sewer, to be.buuiit*s follows:- The cost of an adequate
<br />local sewer, built along the line above describedm is hereby estimated and
<br />fixed to be of the cost of t1he-main sewer to be built along said
<br />line as above set forth, which proportion, as herein estimated and.fixed, shall
<br />be taken and adapted in all computations requiring a knowledge of the cost of
<br />such local sewer if built, along the line where the main sewer is.to be built
<br />The cost,of the construction of said sewer shall be divided as follews:
<br />1. 30 much of such cost as shall be equivalent to the con»
<br />struction of an adequate local sewer not adapted to receive sewage from collater
<br />al drains or sewers, if built along 00 proposed line as hereinabove set forth,
<br />shall be paid by the abutting property holders and the City of South Bend, if
<br />it be determined that said City is benefited by laud sewer in the same manner at
<br />and to the same extent as local sewers, are paid for by them,under the Statutes
<br />in such cases made and provided. ,
<br />20 The ex cess of cost over and above what would be equivalen
<br />to the cost of a local serar, if.built along said line, shall be assessed again$
<br />each piece of pnwperty in the district or area to be drained and against the
<br />City, if it be determined that.the said City if benefitted by,the said sewer,
<br />according to the manner and.method prescribed by law, all is which said property
<br />benefically affected lies within the following described territory in the City
<br />of South Bend, County of St. Joseph, and State of Indiana, towiti-
<br />Beginning at the intersection of the south line of Huron
<br />Street and the let. alley west of Olive Street; thence south along said alley
<br />to the let. alley north of,Ford Street; the nos west along let. alley north of
<br />Ford Street to the 1st. alley east of Meade Street; thence south along the let's
<br />alley east of Meade Street to the north line of lot 658 Third Flat of Smmit
<br />Place Addition; thence west along the north line of said lot to a point 100 feet
<br />east of the east line of Meade Street;.thenee south to the north line of lot
<br />660 in said Prd. Plat; thence east along the north line of said lot 660 to the
<br />let. alley east of Meade Street; thence south along the let. alley east of Meade
<br />Street to the let. alley south of Ford Street; thence east along the 1st. alley
<br />suth of Ford Street to the let. alley westof Olive Street; thence south along
<br />the 1st. alley west of Olive Street and said alley produced south to a point 150
<br />feet south of the south line of Sample Street; thence west parallel with an 150
<br />feet south of the south line of Sample Street to the Ist. alley east of Kaley
<br />Street ext,neded south; thence north along said alley and said alley extended,to
