Each <br />speaker is limited to a maximum of five (5) minutes. Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried <br />by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />Councilmember Puzzello made a motion to hear the substitute version of this bill. <br />Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) <br />ayes. <br />Councilmember Kirsits, Chairperson, Zoning & Annexation Committee, reported that <br />this committee held a meeting this afternoon to hear the pros and cons and the committee <br />did not vote at this time because of the Special Meeting that is going to be held on July <br />16, 2007 on this issue. <br />Mr. Robert Nemeth, Staff Planner, Area Plan Commission, l la` Floor County-City <br />Building, South Bend, Indiana, presented the report from the Commission. <br />Mr. Nemeth advised that the petitioner is requesting a zone change from U University <br />District and SF 2 Single Family and Two Family District to PUD Planned United <br />Development District to allow mixed uses including but not limited to: retail, office and <br />restaurant uses; hotels/conference center; shared parking facilities; and multifamily <br />(apartments, condominiums, townhomes, cityhomes, courtyard townhomes, flats). On <br />site are woods and vacant property zoned U University District, and three single family <br />houses zoned SF2 Single Family and Two Family District. To the north across Angela <br />Boulevard/Edison Road is the campus of the University of Notre Dame zoned U <br />University District. To the east are woods zoned U University District. Further to the <br />east is the site of the proposed Tech Park. To the south along Eddy Street are single <br />family houses zoned MF1 Urban Corridor Multifamily District; along Georgiana, Burns, <br />and Duey Avenues are a mix of vacant property and single family houses zoned SF2 <br />Single Family and Two Family District; and the South Bend Avenue Apartments zoned <br />MF2 High-Density Multifamily District. To the west is the University of Indiana School <br />of Medicine building zoned U University District.
