REGULAR MEETING JUNE 15, 1981 <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT - PARK DEPARTMENT <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that a contract between the Park Department <br />and the Community Development Department was being submitted for <br />a tree planting program in the amount of $20,000.00. Ms. Marzy <br />Bauer was present and stated that Neighborhood groups could request <br />trees from the Park Department and the groups would plant the <br />trees. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the contract was approved. <br />DONATION OF VEHICLE TO POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Dan Thompson requested permission of the Board to accept <br />a donated automobile to the Special Operations Section of the <br />South Bend Police Department. The car is described as a 1974 <br />Oldsmobile Station Wagon, 4 -door, rust /yellow in color, bearing <br />Serial No. 3Q45T4M292012. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the automobile was accepted for <br />the.Special Operations Section of the Police Department. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 12, 1981 (CLEVELAND ROAD TRUNK SEWER IMPROVEMENTS <br />RESOLUTION NO. 12, 1981 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works has found it necessary in <br />the best interest of public safety and welfare to <br />construct certain trunk sewer improvements on old <br />Cleveland Road from Bendix Drive to U.S. 31, and <br />WHEREAS, the cost for these improvements are to be financed <br />from the Cumulative Sewer Sinking and Building <br />Fund, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works has the authority to <br />make such improvements as provided by the General <br />Assembly, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Public Works <br />orders the Department of Public Works to prepare the plans, <br />specifications, cost estimates, secure the necessary right -of- <br />way by gift, fee or condemnation, permits appropriations, and <br />to seek bidsfor and to construct said improvements on old Cleveland <br />Road. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />s/ John E. Byers, Clerk <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above resolution was adopted. <br />PETITION TO VACATE ALLEY (LOUIE'S TUX SHOP) <br />A petition signed by Donald Buczynski, President of Louie's Tux <br />Shop, owner of real estate at 714 -716 -718 Lincolnway West and 709- <br />715 Oak Street, and three other adjacent property owners was submitted <br />for the vacation of the alley running parallel to Lincolnway West <br />and Oak Street and bounded by Scott Street and Cushing Street in <br />Kunstman's 1st Addition. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the petition was referred to <br />the Engineering Department, Department of Community Development <br />and the Area Plan Commission for preliminary review and recommendation. <br />
