Mr. Leszczynski advised Ms. Taylor to work with the <br />Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting on this request. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting and the Police Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF WEST SIDE MEMORIAL DAY COMMITTEE FOR PARADE <br />In ,a letter to the Board; Ms. Adeline Waslicki, Secretary of the <br />West Side Memorial Committee, requested permission to hold its annual <br />Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 25, 1981, starting at 8:30 a.m. <br />at Olive and Ford Streets and proceeding west on Ford Street to <br />Lombardy. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Hill and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Police Traffic Division for review and recommenda- <br />tion. <br />APPROVE SALE OF POPPIES BY AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY <br />A request was received from the American Legion Pulaski Post #357 <br />for permission to sell poppies on the city streets on May 15 and May <br />16, 1981. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the request was approved, provided that the sale of the <br />veteran -made poppies be confined to the public sidewalks. <br />REQUEST FOR SIDEWALK SALE PERMIT (RAMROD BAR, 511 SOUTH MICHIGAN) <br />A request from Jim Hanna and Chester Szwed for permission to sell <br />miscellaneous household items on the sidewalk in front of the Ramrod <br />Bar, 511 South Michigan Street, was received. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, the Police Traffic <br />Division, the Neighborhood Code Enforcement Office, the Legal Depart- <br />ment and the Controller's Office for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the following traffic control devices were approved as recommended <br />by Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting: <br />Removal of "Handicapped Parking" - 643 North Brookfield <br />Revision to "No Parking, Stopping, Standing, 6 P.M. - 6 A.M. - <br />south property line of 517 North Hill to north <br />property line of 525 North Hill <br />Revision to "No Parking, Stopping, Standing - west side of <br />500 North Hill from Cedar to alley south of 517 N. Hill <br />APPROVAL OF MICHIANA LUNG RUN - JUNE 6, 1981 <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />recommended approval of the request of the American Lung Association <br />for the Michiana Lung Run to be held on Saturday, June 6, 1981, com- <br />mencing at 8:00 a.m., in accordance with the route submitted, subject <br />to the following: <br />At the start of the race, the runners will proceed over the <br />Jefferson Street Bridge, through the Century Center parking <br />lot, cross St. Joseph Street at Jefferson and proceed down <br />Jefferson to River Bend Plaza; thence northward to LaSalle. <br />No runners will be allowed on St. Joseph Street. Parking <br />will be prohibited on River Bend Plaza between Washington <br />and Jefferson from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for the duration <br />of the race <br />It was noted that use of the city parks for the race had been approved <br />by the Park Board and the appropriate Certificate of Insurance was on <br />file in the Board office.
