REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 18, 1980 <br />Mr. McMahon stated that the police vehicle being a 1980 Dodge had <br />been involved in an automobile accident and had been totally demolished <br />and an agreement had been reached with the insurance company for <br />salvage rights to the vehicle. Fire Chief Brassell was requesting <br />permission to dispose of a 1953 Ladder Trailer and two Physio- Control <br />Life Pack 3 Heart Monitors. Chief Brassell stated that the.trailer <br />had been stripped of usable parts and the remainder of the trailer <br />would be sold for scrap. In addition, the two life packs would be <br />sold; however, the market for that type of equipment was very limited.. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, . <br />the above resolution was adopted. <br />APPROVE OPEN AIR STAND LICENSE - RIVER BEND PLAZA <br />Ms. Geneva Evans, 1727 South MacGregor, submitted an application for <br />an open air stand license on River Bend Plaza in.order to sell home- <br />made arts and crafts. Ms. Mikki Dobski, River Bend Plaza_ Coordinator, <br />recommended approval of the request. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the license was approved <br />through October 1, 1980, with the location of the stand and coordina- <br />tion of the activity to be at the discretion of Ms. Dobski. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - 201 N. MEADE <br />A request to purchase city -owned property located at 201 N. Meade <br />Street was received from Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Herron. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the request <br />was referred to the various city agencies for review and a determina- <br />tion whether or not the city need retain the property for any reason. <br />APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />submitted the following recommendations regarding traffic control <br />devices: <br />Installation of a Stop Sign on Rosemary at Dorwood <br />(uncontrolled T intersection); <br />Installation of 15 Minute Parking 6 -6 Mon. - <br />Sat., at 1109 Western Avenue; <br />Removal of a No Turn on Red on Williams at Western; <br />Removal of a No Turn on Red for west and north approaches <br />on Western and Taylor. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the above traffic control devices were approved. <br />APPROVAL OF STREET LIGHTS <br />Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Assistant Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, submitted his recommendation concerning the installation <br />of 18 high pressure sodium street lights on Washington.Street between <br />Chapin and Williams at an additional cost of $79.20 /month, or $4.40/ <br />fixture, in conjunction with the Washington Street Lighting Project <br />which was let in December, 1979. It was noted that the costs of <br />the project had been calculated in the street lighting budget before <br />the moratorium was set, and sufficient funds were available in the <br />budget to cover the cost. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the streetlights were approved. <br />APPROVAL OF BLOCK PARTY (COMBINED DEMOCRATIC AND CIVIC CLUB <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />submitted his unfavorable recommendation for a block party on College <br />Street between Linden and Orange on August 23, 1980, since College <br />
