i <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY - OSTEMO AND IROQUOIS <br />JUNE 23. 1980 <br />A request for a block party at the corner of Ostemo and Iroquois <br />on Sunday, August 3, 1980, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. was <br />requested by Mr. Neal Cason, 651 Ostemo Place. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request <br />was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the- Traffic <br />Division of the Police Department for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE PAUL F. BOEHM MINI-MARATHON'-AUGUST 2, 1980 <br />A request from Robert Goodrich, Director of Recreation, was submitted <br />to the Board for permission to conduct the Paul F. Boehm Mini - Marathon <br />foot race in the area surrounding Rum Village Park on August 2, 1980. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the request was approved with the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting to <br />workout the specifics for the marathon and to report to the Board <br />only if a problem was encountered. The Clerk was.instructed to <br />advise the scrap dealers in the 'vicinity of the race concerning <br />the closing of the streets in that area. <br />APPROVAL OF OPEN AIR STAND APPLICATIONS <br />An application for an open air stand at the northwest corner of <br />Jefferson and Logan for a fresh fruit stand operated by James Gesto <br />was recommended favorably by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. <br />The permission of the private property owner for location of the <br />stand at that site was attached. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the application was approved. <br />An application of Mike Lentych, 56825 Oak Road, for an open air <br />stand for the purpose of selling fireworks through July 4, 1980, <br />at the corner of Western and Lombardy was recommended favorably by <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. The permission of the private <br />property owner for location of the stand was attached to the applica- <br />tion. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the request was approved. <br />The applications of Andrew Keszei, 4628 South Main, for open air <br />stands for the purpose of selling fireworks at the corner of Miami <br />and Ireland and U.S. 31 and Ireland were recommended favorably by <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. The permission of the private <br />property owner for location of.the stand was attached to the applica- <br />tion. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the requests were approved. <br />It was noted that the Fire'Inspection Bureau conducts an inspection <br />of each fireworks stand once it is set up to determine if the fire- <br />works being sold are considered legal in the State of Indiana. <br />APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended approval of the follow- <br />ing traffic control devices: <br />Removal of a 30- Minute Parking sign at 1718 Lincolnway West <br />Revision to Handicapped Parking (2 spaces) at 200 West Bronson <br />Installation of Stop Sign on Sugar Maple Lane at.Bendix <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, <br />the above traffic control-devices were approved. <br />
