REGULAR MEETING JUNE 23, 1980 <br />OPENING OF BIDS - CAR WASHES <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for car washes for police <br />vehicles. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in <br />the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to <br />be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Hi -Speed Auto Wash <br />609 E. LaSalle <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Full Service car wash <br />0 -100 units per month <br />Full service car wash <br />100 or more units per month <br />Comet Car Wash <br />1804 Lincolnway West <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Full service car wash <br />0 -100 units per month <br />Full service car wash <br />100 or more units per month <br />Bid was signed by Sam Cossman, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and a certified check in <br />the amount of $250 was submitted. <br />$ 2.25 each <br />2.25 each <br />Bid was signed by Don Zwierzynski, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and a certified check in <br />the amount of $350 was submitted. <br />2.25 each <br />2.15 each <br />Wet wash only, 0 -100 units per month 1.75 each <br />Wet wash only, 100 or more units per month 1.65 each <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, <br />the bids were referred to the Controller's Office and.the Police <br />Department for review and recommendation. <br />AWARD BID - SAMPLE STREET IMPROVEMENTS AND WIDENING (R & S 53) <br />A recommendation was received from Neil A. Shanahan, Manager of the <br />Bureau of Public Construction, asking the Board to accept the low <br />bid of Rieth -Riley Construction Company in the amount of $1,254,056.23, <br />for the Sample Street improvements and widening project. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />bid was awarded to Rieth -Riley Construction in the above amount. <br />AWARD BID - SCARIFICATION AND PAVING PROGRAM <br />Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction, <br />recommended that the Board accept the low bid of Walsh & Kelly <br />Construction Company for the 1980 scarification and paving program <br />in the amount of $222,006.30. The bid had come in at $222,222.05 <br />and an error in computation had been discovered by the Engineering <br />Department which lowered the bid to $222,006.30. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bid was <br />awarded to Walsh & Kelly in the amount of $222,006.30. <br />AWARD BID - DE -ICING CHEMICAL (LIQUID CALCIUM CHLORIDE) <br />Mr. John Baumgartner, Manager of the Bureau of Streets, submitted <br />his recommendation to award the bid to Pierceton Equipment Company <br />for liquid calcium chloride in the amount of $.2874 per gallon. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the bid was awarded to Pierceton Equipment Company in the above <br />amount. <br />1 <br />1 <br />
