REGULAR MEETING <br />APPROVE INDIANA BLACK EXPO PARADE <br />JUNE 2, 1980 <br />A request to conduct a parade in conjunction with the Indiana State <br />Miss Black Expo finals on June 21, 1980, was recommended for <br />approval by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Traffic <br />Division of the Police Department, subject to the following: <br />Parade route to be from Hansel Center; west on <br />Washington; north on Walnut (if closed due to <br />construction, then north on College); west on <br />Linden; south on Olive; west on Orange (if not <br />open, then west on Washington); south on Meade; <br />and west on Linden to LaSalle Park. The final <br />route and choice of alternates will be made on <br />June 20, 1980, by the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting. <br />Closing of St. Paul's Place at 1:00 p.m. for <br />use of area for marshalling and formation. <br />Closing of Linden Avenue from Meade to Falcon <br />for the parade. <br />Filing of the necessary Certificate of Insurance <br />in the amount of $1,000,000 with the city named <br />as an additional insured. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the parade request was approved in. accordance with the above recom- <br />mendations of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. <br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY - ST. LOUIS BOULEVARD <br />A recommendation from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting was received <br />concerning the request to close St. Louis Boulevard from Howard Street <br />north to the first alley, on June 7, 1980, from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 <br />midnight. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the block party was approved. <br />FILING OF REPORT - CLEVELAND ROAD EXTENSION <br />It was noted that, on May 5, 1980, the Board approved temporary <br />measures to be instituted within a 30 -day period for the Cleveland <br />Road Extension -Brick Road By -Pass in response to a petition received <br />concerning safety of the roadway. Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager <br />of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, submitted a progress report <br />to the Board. His report indicated that the re- striping of the <br />pavement markings of the centerline have been completed; additional <br />median wall delineation was accomplished by installation of Chevron <br />signage and delineator plates have been ordered and would be installed <br />upon arrival. The end of wall markings were 75% complete; and at the <br />Brick and Cleveland Extension intersection, the Brick Road warning <br />signs were completed and the Cleveland Road warning signage was <br />expected to be installed during the week of June 2, 1980. The report <br />concluded that the above measures were "near term" measures employed <br />while geometric changes were being studied. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the report was filed. <br />APPROVE STREET LIGHT REMOVALS <br />Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Assistant Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, recommended approval of the following street light removals: <br />12 lights on Washington Street from Chapin to Williams <br />It was noted by Mr. Kernan that removal of the above mentioned lights <br />would result in a monthly decrease charge of $145.32. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the recommenda- <br />tions for street light removal were approved. <br />
