i REGULAR MEETING MARCH 5, 1979 AMENDING OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3470 Mr. McMahon noted that, because the Board of Public Works did not meet on February 26, it is necessary to reschedule the public hearing on Vacation Resolution No. 3470 for the vacation of the east -west alley between Lots 48 and 49, running east from - Lafayette Street between Sample and Garst Streets, continuing on between Lots 30 and 31, east to Main Street. Mr. McMahon made a motion to amend Vacation Resolution No. 3470, 1979 to reflect that the notice shall be published on the 9th and 16th days of March, 1979 and that the public hearing shall be held on the 26th day of March, 1979 at 9:30 a,m. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3466 SCHEDULED Mr. McMahon noted that, because the Board of Public Works did not meet on February 26, it is necessary to reschedule the public hearing on the Assessment Roll for Vacation I Resolution No. 3466 for the vacation of a portion of Vine Street, from the west right -of -way line of 20th Street running west a distance of 147.50 feet, and the first east -west alley south of Vine Street and west of 20th Street, running west from the west right -of -way line of 20th Street to the west right -of -way line of the north -south alley west of 20th Street; and the north -south alley west of 20th Street, from the south right -of- way line of Vine Street south to the north right -of -way line of the first east -west alley south of Vine Street, a distance of 264 feet. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the public hearing on the Assessment Roll was set for Monday, April 2, 1979 at 9:30 a.m. ST. JOSEPH RIVER RUN APPROVED The Board received a letter from the Michiana Watershed, Inc. for the Ninth Annual St. Joseph River Run to be held on Saturday, May 12, 1979. The event is to begin at the Leeper Park Island and Veteran's Park, portage around the South Bend Dam and conclude in Niles. The starting time is 9:00 a.m. and all participants will be required to sign waiver of liability forms. A Certificate of Insurance will be filed with the Board. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was approved, subject to coordination by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department and to the filing of the Certificate of Insurance. The request was referred to the Park Department for approval of park property involved. ENGINEERING AGREEMENT APPROVED - WIDENING OF IRELAND ROAD An Agreement between the City of South Bend and Kent S. Kaser & Associates, for preliminary engineering for the widening of Ireland Road, from Fellows Street to Michigan Street, was submitted to the Board. The Agreement has been reviewed and approved by both the Engineering Department and Legal Department. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the agreement was approved. ENGINEERING AGREEMENT APPROVED - INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT TWYCKENHAM DRIVE AND LINCOLNWAY EAST An Agreement between the City of South Bend and Clyde Williams and Associates for preliminary engineering for intersection improvements at Twyckenham Drive and Lincolnway East was submitted to the Board. The Agreement has been reviewed and approved by the Engineering Department and Legal Department. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded 'by Mr, Brunner and carried, the agreement was approved. 1
