E
REGULAR MEETING
JANUARY 8, 1979
REQUEST RE: STREET LIGHTS, PARK AVENUE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
The Board received a letter from the Park Avenue Neighborhood
Association regarding its' attempts to preserve and maintain
existing ornamental street lights in the neighborhood. In an
attempt to curb vandalism and end breakage of the lights, the
Association is willing to install a device, at their expense,
which would hold the globe in place. They would like the Board
of Public Works to request approval from the Indiana & Michigan
Electric Company for the use of the clamps. Mr. McMahon said the
Board would support the request and would contact representatives
from I & M to request a meeting with Park Avenue Neighborhood
Association members to discuss the matter. Upon motion made by
Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was
referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting to arrange a
meeting between the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company and the
Park Avenue Neighborhood. Association, with the meeting to be
scheduled for this week, if possible.
BID AWARD FOR GASOLINE AND FUEL OIL AMENDED
The Board received the following memorandum from John T. Lentz,
City Auditor:.
"The bid awarded to Amoco Oil Company, Detroit, Michigan,
for gasoline and fuel oil needs correcting. Amoco only
has facilities to support transport quantities, 6000 to
7000 gallon loads. They have no facilities for providing
small tank wagon delivery. This fact was unclear in their
bid, but has been verified verbally with the Amoco Oil
Terminal in Granger.
Due to the above facts, the bid award to Amoco should be
amended to indicate we are awarding them transport truck
delivery only. The award for tank wagon delivery should be
made to Renco Oil Corporation, South Bend, who was the
sole bidder for tank wagon quantities."
Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried,
the recommendation was approved and the bid award for gasoline'an.d
fuel oil was amended to reflect that the low bid of the Renco
Oil Company is accepted for tank wagon delivery of regular gasoline
at .498 per gallon, #2 Diesel Fuel at .454 per gallon, and Premier
Diesel Fuel at .519 per gallon and that the bid as awarded to
the Amoco Oil Company, Detroit, Michigan is for truck transport
delivery of gasoline and furnace oil.
NAT -LEA LEASE AGREEMENT APPROVED - LEASE OF COPIER
A Lease Agreement with Nat -Lea covering the bid award made to
A.B.
