334 <br />REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 11, 1978 <br />SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES APPROVED <br />Ted Latkowski, Environmental Protection Officer, advised the Board <br />that there are approximately eighty -two abandoned vehicles which <br />have been towed to the City lot at 915 S. Olive Street and held for <br />more than thirty days. He requested that the Board advertise for the <br />sale of the vehicles. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved the request and directed <br />the Clerk to advertise for the sale of the vehicles. <br />CHANGE ORDER NO. E -2 FOR FIRE STATION #6 APPROVED <br />Change Order No. E -2 in the contract with Colip Electric Corporation <br />for Fire Station #6 was submitted to the Board. The change order <br />increases the contract by $731.00 and is for the relocation of the <br />range hood exhaust fan control and new sound cable for the outdoor <br />speakers. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen <br />and carried, the change order was approved. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - JANITORIAL SERVICES FOR MSF <br />John Stancati, Director of Utilities, submitted to the Board <br />specifications for Janitorial Services for the Municipal Services <br />Facility and the Jail. The present contract expires on January 31, <br />1979,and Mr. Stancati requested that the Board advertise for bids <br />for a one year contract from-February 1, 1979 through January 31 <br />1980. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the Board approved the request and directed the Clerk to <br />advertise. <br />LETTER RE: TRUCK TRAFFIC ON EWING <br />The Board received a letter from County Councilman Velma Torzewski <br />regarding a complaint about semi -truck traffic on Ewing, between <br />Prairie and Franklin. Mr. McMahon noted that Captain Sweitzer of <br />the Police Department Traffic Detail is aware of the complaint and <br />has been making an investigation. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the letter was referred to <br />Captain Sweitzer for his review and a reply. <br />REQUEST FOR BIKE- A -THON APPROVED — AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION <br />The American Diabetes Association submitted a request to hold <br />their Sixth Annual Bike -A -Thou on October 7, 1979. The route and <br />insurance will be submitted at a later date but the initial request <br />is being submitted in compliance with the guidelines for such <br />activities, requiring six months advance request. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board <br />approved the request subject to coordination of the route by the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department. <br />CLAIMS APPROVED <br />Michael L. Vance, Deputy City Controller, submitted to the Board <br />Claim Docket Numbers 23608 through 24061 and recommended approval. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the Board approved Claim Docket Numbers 23608 through 24061 <br />and directed that checks for payment be issued. <br />
