There will be no new curb cuts required on either
Mishawaka Avenue or Thirty - Fourth Street and the development will
be aesthetically compatible with the surrounding neighborhood. Mr.
Gibson noted that the bank will pave the north -south alley adjacent
to the proposed vacated alley. There were no property owners
present to remonstrate against the petition and no written remon-
strances were filed with the Board. Upon motion made by Mr.
Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Vacation Resolution
was confirmed and the Board directed that an.Assessment Roll be
prepared.
POLICE RADIO BID ACCEPTED
Police Chief Michael C. Borkowski submitted to the Board the
following recommendation:
"As a result of the last meeting with your Board, a meeting
of the vendors, the Legal Department, the Bureau of Communications
and the Police Department representatives was held at 2:00 P.M.
on November 16, 1978. That meeting was in the Legal Department
Conference Room.
A review of the.- specifications written and the bids of the
vendors resulted in,general agreement over the objection of
Motorola that the three bids acceptable were:
1. Motorola "Universal" MX 330 @ $1,440.00
2. Meade Electric GE -PE @ 1,110.00
3. R.C.A. Tac -Tec @ 946.25
It is now the opinion of the B
the Police Department that the
a needed accessory item bid by
unit for each unit at an added
to be added to the cost of the
That figure still being lowest
ureau of Communications and
R.C.A. bid is lowest. However,
R.C.A. of a separate charger
cost of $52.00 each requested
unit prices, or now $998.25 each.
would then meet our needs.
We, therefore, recommend awarding the bid to R.C.A. for 21
portable radios, and chargers at a total cost of $20,963.25.
Respectfully submitted,
s/ Michael C. Borkowski
Chief of Police
if
Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried,
the recommendation was approved and the bid of R.C.A. accepted.
Mr. Mullen noted receipt of the following letter from Meade Electric
Company:
"We, at Meade Electric, are pleased to quote to the Board of
Public Works for the Police Department, twenty -one Portable
Transceivers which are 1000 compatible with existing equipment.
We know that as per your bid sheet specifications, you intended
for this new equipment to be compatible with all of the
existing system. The equipment will fit the auto chargers,
desk chargers, gang chargers and all the portable microphone/
speaker accessories you now have.
I
0
