318 <br />REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 20, 197£3 <br />FILING OF PETITION TO VACATE ALLEY SOUTH OF MONROE STREET <br />William Roy Reynolds and Alice H. Shaffer, represented by <br />Indiana and Michigan Realty Company, file a petition to vacate the <br />first alley south of Monroe Street, running east from Columbia <br />Street approximately one -half block towards Fellows Street and <br />the north -south alley south of Monroe Street, running east and <br />west between Columbia and Fellows to the second alley south of <br />Monroe Street. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the petition was filed and referred to <br />the Department of Engineering and the Area Plan Commission for <br />preliminary review and recommendation. <br />PETITION TO VACATE ALLEY AMENDED - PILGRIM BAPTIST CHURCH <br />The Board received a request from the Pilgrim Baptist Church to <br />amend their vacation petition as follows: to vacate the east -west <br />alley south of Colfax, east from Birdsell Street to the first north - <br />south alley. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the Board accepted the amendment to the <br />petition and the amended petition is to be referred to the Depart- <br />ment of Engineering and the Area Plan Commission for review. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHTING - 1200 N. ST. JOSEPH <br />The Board received a letter from Mrs. Leo P. Rieder requesting <br />updated lighting in the 1200 block N. St. Joseph Street. 'Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHTING - 1500 BLOCK CHAPIN <br />Councilman Roger Parent submitted to the Board a request for <br />additional street lighting in the 1500 block Chapin Street. <br />The Board discussed the request which is for lighting in the Sixth <br />District. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen <br />and carried, the request was referred to Councilman Walter <br />Kopczynski for his review and comments and to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />Joseph J. Pluta, Assistant Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, recommended the following traffic control installations: <br />A. No Parking on both sides of North Ironwood from Union to <br />South Bend Avenue, due to the reconstruction of Ironwood. <br />B. No Parking on both sides of Edison, from Rosemary to Pyle, <br />due to the reconstruction of the Ironwood - Edison intersection. <br />C. Install Stop Signs on 29th at Kettering, an uncontrolled <br />"T'.' intersection. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the recommendations were,approved. <br />FOUR -WAY STOP AT ROCKNE AND MAC ARTHUR DENIED <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reported to the Board that a <br />study was made of the intersection at Rockne and MacArthur with <br />reference to a request for a four -way stop at that intersection. <br />The study indicated the warrants for a four -way stop are not met,, <br />and the Bureau recommended the request be denied. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the <br />recommendation was approved and the request denied. <br />[7 <br />
