REGULAR MEETING <br />245 <br />SEPTEMBER 11, 1978 <br />BID AWARDED - IRONWOOD & JEFFERSON INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS <br />John Leszczynski, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction, <br />reported to the Board that the Department of Engineering reviewed <br />the bids received for the Ironwood & Jefferson Intersection <br />Improvements. A bid tabulation was submitted. Mr. Leszczynski <br />recommended that the bid award be made to the Rieth -Riley Construction <br />Company on their low bid of $59,418.25. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the recommendation <br />was approved and the bid award was made to the low bidder, Rieth- <br />Riley Construction Company, <br />BID AWARDED BENDIX DRIVE IMPROVEMENTS <br />John Leszczynski, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction, <br />reported to the Board that the Department of Engineering reviewed <br />the bid received for the Bendix Drive Improvements at the intersec- <br />tion of Bendix with Bertrand and Linden Street. Mr. Leszczynski <br />recommended that the bid award be made to the only bidder, Rieth- <br />Riley Construction Company on their bid of $25,459.20. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the recommendation was approved and the bid award was made to <br />Rieth -Riley Construction Company. <br />CONTRACT APPROVED TIRE REPAIRS FOR CITY VEHICLES <br />A contract with Singer General Tire Company, for tire repairs for <br />city vehicles July 1, 1978 to June 30, 1979 was prepared by <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone and has been signed by the <br />President of Singer General Tire Company. The contract is in <br />conformity with the bid accepted by the Board. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board <br />approved the contract. <br />CONTRACT APPROVED- CAR ti,TASHES FOR CITY VEHICLES <br />A contract with Comet Car Washes for city vehicles from July 1, <br />1978 through June 30,, 1979 was prepared by Deputy City Attorney <br />Terry Crone and has been signed by an official of Comet Car Wash. <br />The contract is in conformity with the bid accepted by the Board. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the Board approved the contract. <br />... ........ ............. <br />TRAFFIC RECOMMENDATIONS TN REGARD TO MEMORIAL HOSPITAL CONSTRUCTION <br />The Board received a request from Sollitt Construction Company to <br />close and occupy for construction of the Memorial Hospital parking <br />structure the sidewalk and parkway in the 100 west block of Bartlett <br />Street on the south side and the 600 block of north Main Street on <br />the east side. The estimated occupancy of this area is until June <br />1, 1979. Ralph Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, recommended to the Board approval of this request. He <br />also recommended that all pedestrian- traffic on Bartlett will be <br />directed to the north side of the street. Pedestrian traffic on <br />Main Street will be handled at a midblock crosswalk existing from <br />the hospital to the parking lots on the west side of Main Street. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the recommendations were approved. <br />Mr. Mullen left the meeting at 10:00 a.m. <br />100 WEST BARTLETT TEMPORARILY ONE WAY <br />The Board received a recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski, Manager <br />of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting that 100 W. Bartlett be <br />made one -way westbound from Michigan to Main. With the construction <br />at Memorial Hospital, 100 W. Bartlett has seen a heavy increase in <br />vehicular traffic. It is also anticipated that the unloading of <br />
