214 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />BLOCK PARTIES APPROVED <br />AUGUST 7, 1978 <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />made the following recommendations to the Board on requests for <br />block parties: <br />A. In concurrence with the Police Department, the Bureau <br />recommends approval of a Block Party on Allen Street, <br />between Vassar and California, on Saturday, August 12 <br />from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. <br />B. In concurrence with the Police Department, the Bureau <br />recommends approval of a block party on St. Louis. - Boulevard, <br />in the half block from Howard Street north to St. Vincent <br />Street an Saturday, August 26 "from, 6:00 p.m. to. midnight. <br />C. In concurrence with the-Police Department, the Bureau <br />recommends approval of the closing of the 1500 Block <br />S. Taylor Street, from Indiana Avenue south to the railroad <br />tracks. The original request was to close the street to <br />the intersecting alley in the middle of the block but Mr. <br />Wadzinski recommended that all residents be contacted and <br />the entire block closed. He.also noted that-the street <br />should be accessible to emergency vehicles." <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the recommendations were approved. <br />CANOPY AT CINNABAR'S APPROVED <br />A request to install a canopy at Cinnabar's, 109 Woodward Court <br />was reviewed by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the <br />following recommendation was submitted: <br />After conferring with the Building Commissioner, Mr. Wadzinski <br />recommended that the drawing submitted with the request did <br />not follow Code Requirements. He recommended that the awning <br />design be changed so that: <br />A. the bottom rail is 8' or more above the public sidewalk. <br />B. the lowest portion of the valance is set more than 7' above <br />the sidewalk. <br />C. the end of the awning shall be at least 2' from the curbline. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the canopy installation was approved, subject to the <br />recommendations of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. <br />CHAPIN STREET CLOSING REQUESTED <br />Msgr. John S. Sabo, Our Lady of Hungary Parish, requested that <br />the Board approve the closing of Chapin Street, between Calvert <br />and Bruce, on Saturday, August 19 from 10:00 a.m. to midnight <br />for a Parish Festival. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was referred to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />FINE ARTS FAIR RAIN DATES APPROVED <br />Mikki Dobski, River Bend Plaza Director, submitted to the Board <br />an application to approve August 18 and 19 as rain dates for <br />the Fine Arts Fair to be sponsored by the Plaza on the Robertson's <br />Stage. The event has already been approved. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the application <br />was approved. <br />C <br />
