214 REGULAR MEETING BLOCK PARTIES APPROVED AUGUST 7, 1978 Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, made the following recommendations to the Board on requests for block parties: A. In concurrence with the Police Department, the Bureau recommends approval of a Block Party on Allen Street, between Vassar and California, on Saturday, August 12 from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. B. In concurrence with the Police Department, the Bureau recommends approval of a block party on St. Louis. - Boulevard, in the half block from Howard Street north to St. Vincent Street an Saturday, August 26 "from, 6:00 p.m. to. midnight. C. In concurrence with the-Police Department, the Bureau recommends approval of the closing of the 1500 Block S. Taylor Street, from Indiana Avenue south to the railroad tracks. The original request was to close the street to the intersecting alley in the middle of the block but Mr. Wadzinski recommended that all residents be contacted and the entire block closed. He.also noted that-the street should be accessible to emergency vehicles." Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the recommendations were approved. CANOPY AT CINNABAR'S APPROVED A request to install a canopy at Cinnabar's, 109 Woodward Court was reviewed by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the following recommendation was submitted: After conferring with the Building Commissioner, Mr. Wadzinski recommended that the drawing submitted with the request did not follow Code Requirements. He recommended that the awning design be changed so that: A. the bottom rail is 8' or more above the public sidewalk. B. the lowest portion of the valance is set more than 7' above the sidewalk. C. the end of the awning shall be at least 2' from the curbline. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the canopy installation was approved, subject to the recommendations of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. CHAPIN STREET CLOSING REQUESTED Msgr. John S. Sabo, Our Lady of Hungary Parish, requested that the Board approve the closing of Chapin Street, between Calvert and Bruce, on Saturday, August 19 from 10:00 a.m. to midnight for a Parish Festival. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. FINE ARTS FAIR RAIN DATES APPROVED Mikki Dobski, River Bend Plaza Director, submitted to the Board an application to approve August 18 and 19 as rain dates for the Fine Arts Fair to be sponsored by the Plaza on the Robertson's Stage. The event has already been approved. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the application was approved. C
