20 REGULAR 14EETING JULY 31, 1978 APPROVAL OF ADVERTISING FOR SALE OF CITY -OWNED REAL ESTATE Mr. McMahon reported that the Common Council has approved the sale of a parcel of land owned by the Park Department which has determined that the property is not needed and can be disposed of. The property, which includes a house, has now been appraised and can be offered for sale. The property is located at 51142 Redwood Road, near Elbel Golf Course, and the offering price for the property is $18,780.00. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved advertising for sealed bids for the sale of the property, with bids to be received on August 28, 1978. REQUESTS FOR BLOCK PARTIES RECEIVED The Board received the following requests for Block Parties: A. Allen Street, between Vassar and California, on August 12, 1978 from noon to dusk. Requested by Joseph Gatto B. St. Louis Boulevard from 1001 to the alley at 1018, from 6:00 p.m. until midnight on August 26. Requested by LuElla Morrow C. 1500 Block Taylor, from Indiana Avenue to the alley at 1520 S. Taylor, from 1:00 p.m. until midnight on August 19. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the requests were referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. REPORT ON REQUEST TO PURCHASE PROPERTY ON CHAPIN ST. NORTH OF WESTERN Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, submitted a recommendation to the Board regarding the review of the request of Peter F. Nemeth to purchase properties on the east side of Chapin Street, north of Western Avenue. Following review of the request with the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, Mr. Andrysiak recommended that the City not sell any of the parcels of land in question until a final design for all turns and street widening for the Chapin /Western Improvement have been approved. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board filed the recommendation and directed that Mr. Nemeth be advised that the City does not plan to sell the lots at this time. APPROVAL OF CLAIMS Michael L. Vance, Deputy City Controller, submitted to the Board Claim Docket Numbers 14254 through 14695 and recommended approval. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved Claim Docket Numbers 14254 through 14695 and directed that checks for payment be issued. RIVER BEND PLAZA APPLICATIONS APPROVED Mikki Dobski, Director of River Bend Plaza, submitted the following applications along with her favorable recommendation: A. Additional Sidewalk Days Merchants who provided insurance certificates and vendor's licenses for July 28 and 29 - Aktive Vacuum Cleaners and White Elephant Shop Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the applications were approved.
