201 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />STREET CLOSINGS APPROVED <br />JULY 24, 1978 <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reported to the Board that <br />the following requests for street closings had been reviewed <br />and recommendations were submitted: <br />A. Assumption Drive - Closed on Sunday, August 13 from 12:00 noon <br />until 10:00 p.m, with the stipulation that only the circular <br />portion of the drive be closed and that no parking should <br />block the Drive in the open area to provide emergency access <br />to the area and to the buildings. <br />B. Block Party on South Street from 1336 E. South to Longfellow <br />on Saturday, August 12 (Sunday, August 13 raindate) from 2:00 p.m. <br />to midnight. <br />The Police Department Traffic Detail concurs with the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting that the closings can be approved. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the recommendations were approved. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended approval of the <br />following traffic control devices: <br />A. Temporary 25 mile per hour speed limit on Ironwood from <br />Oak Park to South Bend Avenue during present construction <br />on Ironwood. <br />B. Temporary revision of traffic signals at Edison and Ironwood <br />to revert to a multi -way stop for intersection control during <br />the construction period. <br />C. Installation of a Stop Sign on Beale at Riverside, a previously <br />uncontrolled Tee intersection. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried <br />the recommendations were approved. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA REQUESTS APPROVED <br />Mikki Dobski, River Bend Plaza Director, submitted the following <br />applications with her favorable recommendation: <br />A. Sidewalk Days - July 28 and 29. <br />Rent -A -Teens - Sale of Popsicles and Ice Cream <br />R. K. Mueller Jewelers -Sales Booth <br />Newman's - Sales Booth <br />Robertson's - Sales Booth <br />Rasmussen's - Sales Booth <br />Hall of Cards and Books - Sales Booth <br />C. E. Lee Company - Sales Booth <br />Lerner's Shop - Sales Booth <br />Veteran's Administration - Display Booth <br />Fencing Demonstration <br />Disco Music provided by Cinnabar's <br />Food Vendors - Names to be provided by Miss Dobski <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the Sidewalk Days applications were approved, subject <br />to securing the necessary insurance certificates, health permits <br />and vending licenses where applicable. <br />
