199 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 24, 1978 <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED — FENCE AT MUNICIPAL SERVICES FACILITY <br />John Leszczynski, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction, <br />requested that the Board approve advertising for bids for the <br />installation of a fence around the Municipal Services Facility <br />to increase security around the complex by providing limited <br />access to the site. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was approved. <br />ADDENDUM TO CONTRACT WITH MURPHY CONSULTANTS APPROVED <br />(SAMPLE STREET, OLIVE TO CHAPIN) <br />Patrick M. McMahon, Director of Public Works, submitted to the <br />Board an addendum to the contract dated June 19, 1974 with Murphy <br />Engineering for the improvement of Sample Street, from Olive to <br />Chapin. Mr. McMahon explained that the addendum provides for <br />additional services to be provided under the contract. Federal <br />funding is being sought and the revisions re,f-l:ect state and federal <br />requirements. Total fee for the items covered in the addendum <br />is not to exceed $15,000. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the addendum was approved. <br />PROPOSAL FOR LEASE OF BUILDING FOR STREET DEPARTMENT WAREHOUSE RECEIVED <br />The Board received a proposal from The Prairie Company, 1100 Prairie <br />Avenue, to rent to the City a portion of the Studebaker Foundry <br />Building, consisting of 37,800 square feet and located on the south <br />side of the Building, for use as a warehouse for the Street Department. <br />Terms of the proposal indicate the lease period would be from August 1, <br />1978 through December 31, 1979, with twelve equal payments of <br />$2,063.00. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the proposal was referred to the Legal Department for <br />review and preparation of a lease agreement. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - SNOW CONTROL EQUIPMENT <br />Patrick M. McMahon, Director of Public Works, requested that the <br />Board approve a request to advertise for bids for snow control <br />equipment, to include hitches, plows and salt spreaders. The bid <br />will also include the share of cost for the Wastewater and Water <br />Works Departments. The equipment will prepare the departments for <br />the coming winter and modifications made in trucks from other <br />departments will provide additional vehicles needed to handle snow <br />control. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the Board approved the request and directed that <br />advertising be prepared with sealed bids to be received on August 7. <br />TRANSFER OF BUREAU OF SOLID WASTE TO BOARD OF WASTEWATER COMMISSIONERS <br />Patrick M. McMahon, Director of Public Works, noted that at the last <br />meeting of the Board of Wastewater Commissioners it was agreed that <br />there should be some formal transfer of the Bureau of Solid waste <br />from the Board of Public Works to the Board of Wastewater Commissioners, <br />since that Board is handling the administration of the Bureau. <br />Mr. McMahon made a motion that the Bureau of Solid Waste be transferred <br />from the Board of Public Works to the Board of Wastewater Commissioners. <br />Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />RECREATION DEPARTMENT MINI- MARATHON APPROVED <br />The Department of Public Recreation requested permission to sponsor <br />a Mini- Plarathon on Saturday, August 5, 1978 beginning at 10:00 a.m. <br />A map of the proposed route was attached. The Department also <br />requested permission to either chalk or paint arrows and mile markers <br />along the route for the benefit of runners. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was approved, <br />subject to the concurrence of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and <br />the Police Department Traffic Detail for the route proposed and for <br />a determination regarding the request to mark arrows and mile markers. <br />
