21 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />CHANGE ORDER APPROVED - KALEY STREET .,IMPROVEMENTS. <br />FEBRUARY 6, 1978 <br />Change Order No. 2 in the contract with Rieth Riley Construction Company for <br />the Kaley Street Improvements was submitted to the Board with the favorable <br />recommendation of Patrick M. McMahon, Director of Public Works, and John <br />Leszczynski, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction. The Change Order <br />increases the contract by $21,274.50. The Change Order noted that based upon <br />the existence of deteriorating curb, sidewalk and roadway conditions adjacent <br />to work of this same nature on Kaley, Meade and Monroe Streets and as a result of <br />the availability of funds, the original project was expanded so as to correct <br />these conditions, thereby upgrading all areas in this neighborhood to a common <br />state of repair. A detailed list of quantities was attached to the change order. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />Board approved the change order. <br />TEMPORARY OFFICE APPROVED NORTH OF 815 E. PENNSYLVANIA - INDIANA CABLEVISION CORP. <br />Indiana Cablevision Corporation requested that the Board approve a temporary <br />office north of their facility at 815 E. Pennsylvania for a period of six months <br />to allow for expansion of their facilities. A diagram of the proposed location <br />of the mobile unit was submitted with the request. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, with Mr. Brunner abstaining, the <br />request was approved. <br />FILING OF SIGNAL LEAKAGE REPORT - INDIANA CABLEVISION CORPORATION <br />In compliance with the Board's request, a report of work done in eliminating <br />signal leakage from Indiana Cablevision Corporation equipment, for the period <br />October through December, 1977, was submitted to the Board. Also submitted was <br />a map showing areas where work has been completed. The report indicated that all <br />work in the City of South Bend should be completed by February, 1978 and the <br />company will then continue to work on any reoccurring problems. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the report was filed. <br />LETTER FILED RE: CURB IN 1700 BLOCK PRAIRIE AVENUE <br />The following letter was received: <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />"Gentlemen: <br />In order to eliminate a hazardous condition in the neighborhood of our <br />property, I have been asked by the Aetna Insurance Company of the Midwest <br />to notify you of a condition. <br />The alleyway adjacent to the entrance from Prairie Avenue and to the <br />West of the location at 1704 Prairie Avenue and to the East of the <br />location at 1712 Prairie Avenue has a curb protruding. It is my <br />understanding that this curb is your property and that I cannot change <br />or alter it because of this ownership. <br />The insurance company has asked that you be notified of this condition <br />and, if necessary, make arrangements to eliminate this hazard. <br />Very truly yours, <br />s/ Michael Rozow <br />d /b /a Michael's Cut Rate <br />1702 -04 Prairie Avenue " <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the letter <br />was filed and referred to the Bureau of Streets for investigation and <br />recommendation. <br />
