21
REGULAR MEETING
CHANGE ORDER APPROVED - KALEY STREET .,IMPROVEMENTS.
FEBRUARY 6, 1978
Change Order No. 2 in the contract with Rieth Riley Construction Company for
the Kaley Street Improvements was submitted to the Board with the favorable
recommendation of Patrick M. McMahon, Director of Public Works, and John
Leszczynski, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction. The Change Order
increases the contract by $21,274.50. The Change Order noted that based upon
the existence of deteriorating curb, sidewalk and roadway conditions adjacent
to work of this same nature on Kaley, Meade and Monroe Streets and as a result of
the availability of funds, the original project was expanded so as to correct
these conditions, thereby upgrading all areas in this neighborhood to a common
state of repair. A detailed list of quantities was attached to the change order.
Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the
Board approved the change order.
TEMPORARY OFFICE APPROVED NORTH OF 815 E. PENNSYLVANIA - INDIANA CABLEVISION CORP.
Indiana Cablevision Corporation requested that the Board approve a temporary
office north of their facility at 815 E. Pennsylvania for a period of six months
to allow for expansion of their facilities. A diagram of the proposed location
of the mobile unit was submitted with the request. Upon motion made by Mr.
McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, with Mr. Brunner abstaining, the
request was approved.
FILING OF SIGNAL LEAKAGE REPORT - INDIANA CABLEVISION CORPORATION
In compliance with the Board's request, a report of work done in eliminating
signal leakage from Indiana Cablevision Corporation equipment, for the period
October through December, 1977, was submitted to the Board. Also submitted was
a map showing areas where work has been completed. The report indicated that all
work in the City of South Bend should be completed by February, 1978 and the
company will then continue to work on any reoccurring problems. Upon motion made
by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the report was filed.
LETTER FILED RE: CURB IN 1700 BLOCK PRAIRIE AVENUE
The following letter was received:
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
"Gentlemen:
In order to eliminate a hazardous condition in the neighborhood of our
property, I have been asked by the Aetna Insurance Company of the Midwest
to notify you of a condition.
The alleyway adjacent to the entrance from Prairie Avenue and to the
West of the location at 1704 Prairie Avenue and to the East of the
location at 1712 Prairie Avenue has a curb protruding. It is my
understanding that this curb is your property and that I cannot change
or alter it because of this ownership.
The insurance company has asked that you be notified of this condition
and, if necessary, make arrangements to eliminate this hazard.
Very truly yours,
s/ Michael Rozow
d /b /a Michael's Cut Rate
1702 -04 Prairie Avenue "
Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the letter
was filed and referred to the Bureau of Streets for investigation and
recommendation.
