442
REGULAR MEETING MAY 19, 1980
APPROVE BLOCK PARTY 1300 and 1400 BLOCKS OF MATTHEWS LANE
Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting,
recommended approval of the 'request to block off the 1300 and 1400
blocks of Matthews Lane for a block party on Sunday, May 25, 1980,
from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Approval of this request is recom-
mended subject to a free 12 -foot wide lane being maintained open
for emergency vehicle passage. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon,
seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was approved in
accordance with Mr. Wadzinski's recommendation.
APPROVE EXIT ONTO MICHIGAN STREET FROM SURFACE PARKING LOT NO. 1
At the May 12, 1980, meeting of the Board, a petition had been
submitted requesting access onto Michigan Street from Parking Lot
No. 1 because of the one -way south pattern of the alley and the
fact that the lot's only exit was in the alley going south. Mr.
Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting,
recommended approval of the Board for the exit only onto Michigan
Street with the right to rescind the recommendation in the event
the parking lot security is severely breached with non - paying
parkers, or a traffic /pedestrian problem develops. It was noted
that an old drive -way presently exists near the northwest corner
of the lot and the utilization of the driveway as an exit would
require the removal of at least two and possibly three on- street
parking spaces in the Supergraphic area. Upon a motion made by
Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the use of Michigan
Street as an exit only from the parking lot was approved.
APPROVE STREET LIGHT REMOVALS
Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Assistant Manager of the Bureau of Traffic
and Lighting, recommended approval of the following street lights:
Intersecting alley north of Navarre, west of Main
300 South Franklin
100 North Michigan (2 lights)
Mr. McMahon noted that removal of the above mentioned lights would
result in a monthly decrease charge of $36.61. Upon a motion made
by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the recommenda-
tions for street light removal were approved.
APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES
Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and
Lighting, recommended approval of the following traffic control
devices:
Installation of 30 Minute Parking 6 AM - 6 PM
On south side of 100 East Jefferson (front of St.
Joseph Bank Building), to promote curb space turnover.
Removal of Green Curb, 10 Minute Zone, and revision
to 15 Minute Parking 6 AM - 6 PM Except Sunday on
south side of 100 East Jefferson (Plaza 100 Building),
to promote curb space turnover.
Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried,
the recommendations for traffic control devices were approved.
